DENVER Sales of handguns, rifles and ammunition have surged in the last week, according to gun store owners around the nation who describe a wave of buyers concerned that an Obama administration will curtail their right to bear arms.
Hes a gun-snatcher, said Jim Pruett, owner of Jim Pruetts Guns and Ammo in northwest Houston, which was packed with shoppers on Thursday.
He wants to take our guns from us and create a socialist society policed by his own police force, added Mr. Pruett, a former radio personality, of President-elect Barack Obama.
Mr. Pruett said that sales last Saturday, just before Election Day, ran about seven times higher than a typical good Saturday.
A spot check by reporters in four other states easily found Mr. Pruetts comments echoed from both sides of the counter.
David Nelson, a co-owner of Montana Ordnance & Supply in Missoula, Mont., said his buyers were awake and aware and see a dangerous trend.
Mr. Nelson said sales at his store had risen about 30 percent since Mr. Obama declared his candidacy. People are concerned about overreaching legislation from Washington, he said. They are educating themselves on the Internet.
In Colorado, would-be gun buyers set a one-day record last Saturday with the highest number of background check requests in a 24-hour period, according to figures from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
Were not really sure who is promoting the concept that a change in federal administrations might affect firearms possession rights, said an agency spokesman, Lance Clem...

What is clear is that every gun seller not to mention every advocacy group for gun ownership that depends on dues-paying members has an incentive to stoke the concern that can prompt a gun sale. Political uncertainty, gun dealers say, is great for business...

Bought a Sig Sauer 556 last night.
If anyone has a recommendation for a fairly inexpensive but decent red dot sight, let me know.
Smart people.
Spend the $239.00 and get a Crimson Trace. I got another Mossberg 500.
Gun Sales are up.
Obama’s Fault.
Im going to swing buy walmart right now and see what there ammo supply is. Its probably gone or very slim
I haven’t owned a firearm in 24 years. Wife didn’t want my collection in the house when we began a family. So I sold them all & used the money to help fund our growing needs.
Well, the kids are grown now, & it’s time to re-arm.
To hell with Zero & his Communist schemes!
I put a Leupold CQ/T on a DPMS 16 inch M4 style AR. It’s 1.5 inch low at 25 yards, dead on at 50, 1 inch high at 100 yards, and dead on again at 200 yards, without clicking a knob.
At 200 yards, it throws a five shot 2 inch circle.
I’m not claiming it’s a magic combination, but it’s a magic combination.
Save your money and get a $350 aimpoint. You have a top of the line rifle, get a top of the line scope.
Start with a 12 ga home defense pump shotgun.
then move on to a revolver or a glock.
Second on the Aimpoint. If you want to go high dollar, look at the Trijicon ACOG.
Sunday, at the WPB gun show, my bro-in-law and I are applying for a CCW permit and stocking up.
It’s a nice rifle but the round isnt that much different than a 22 magnum rifle.
For the money you spent on that you could get a nice cold M4 style civilian rifle with a bunch of 20 round mags.
Sorry,,I typed Cold but meant COLT..
My bad..
Start slow..if you dont have any handgun experience start with something simple..like a smith and wesson, ruger or taurus double action 38 or 357 magnum.
My everyday CCW pistol is either an old school Smith Chief’s Special (model 36) or a Glock 19.
I’ve got a Crimson Trace: under $250 and worth it.
