She already has a job. Governors make good presidents. Senators don't.

No, I don’t agree. She’s better off remaining as Governor. She needs to avoid that corrupting Beltway crap out there.

If he wins and then resigns or is forced out she could in fact replace him.

It may not be the best idea, let her gain more experience as gov. do some talk radio. Leave Todd and marry meeeeeeeeee. Oh well I can dream.....

Yes she would be better off as Governor....this “appoint yourself as Senator” was pushed by CNN earlier

Governor’s tend to fare better when running for President, anyway. And, if Clinton can win while as an Arkansas governor....Palin definitely can win as Alaska governor

Harry Reid will not lift a finger to have Stevens removed. He will be kept as the poster-boy for greedy corrupt Republicans, and to keep Palin out.

Yesterday I read a brief article about governors that have appointed themselves as senators. There have been in the neighborhood of 15 or 20 instances of this in the past. In every case but one the person who did it was defeated in either the next primary or the next general election.

Governor, I repeat, GOVERNOR Palin was picked for VP because she is a GOVERNOR not a massively compromised senator.

Washington is too dirty. I’d prefer that she stay clean and as far away from it as possible.

You seem to equate time on a website with the value of the post, which isn’t even close to a smart way of going about things.

Not all newbies to FR are new to conservatism, They are not all stupid, and rejecting all ideas from a newbie is as silly as accepting everything 10+ year posters write as a given.

I think Govenor Palin will do God’s will and what is best for her family, state, and country. I am not 100% sure a Senator who is really and administrative blowhard usually is something she would enjoy. She is a pragmatic, get the right thing done sort of leader. Senators are generally just cow walking together toward the trough.

I love Sarah Palin, but for her own sake she should retreat back to Alaska for a couple more years. Her home is there. Her family and inlaws are there. She’s got an 80% popularity ranking there.

Sometimes, you need to take a break from the spotlight. Sarah didn’t get a good deal from the press, and no they weren’t just telling it like it is because they could have jeered about Obama’s “change” leading to “hope” leading back to “change” and continually harp things like “Just what does this guy stand for?” - If the media harped on Barack for real issues for a few months straight McCain would’ve won pretty easily.

Well, at least it’s not Hillary and I’m not sorry about that. Barack’s a man and he’s got a pair so maybe he can be reasoned with.

Good luck to Sarah Palin, but Washington DC would just risk turning her into an insider. Besides, Alaska property is much nicer for a family than the ghetto streets of DC.

Almost as soon as Sarah Palin was selected to run as VP, the left panicked at how she was adored by the conservative base, so they Quaylized her as soon as possible on SNL and elsewhere. This treatment of her will never cease, but my love for her is only magnified by how well she has been able to deal with it. She is so much better than all of them, they’re not even worthy to have her as their President. I’ve always voted Republican, but I never contributed any money...until Sarah Palin, and I imagine there are millions of other conservatives who feel the same way about her as I do.

Governor is far better preparation for the presidency. You actually govern. Senators preen and pose and muddle about while governors actually make decisions, organize and lead to carry them out, and they get to see the immediate consequences for those decisions. Its the perfect laboratory.

And to be governor of Alaska is the best job in the world. She rules a territory the size of europe, and she walks to work. She would have to be crazy to leave that to go live in DC and grub about with that crowd.

"I think she can do much more good as Governor."

I agree. She is more effective as Alaska's Governor. She is in charge of a good source of our energy. She is working on the needed natural gas pipeline. In a 57-Dem Senate, she would be just another minority of no effect.

It’s tempting, if only that the GOP would someone in DC who will attract attention and who can speak for the party. Mitch McConnell isn’t going to attract many cameras. Of course, the problem would be that she’d be in the pit of the vipers and the media would be giving her the same treatment they did during the election 24/7/365 from here to 2012.

Plus, she becomes a part of the establishment. As a Senator she’d have to cast a bunch of votes and she’ll have a record that will be used against her in the primary and in a general election.

Staying in Alaska would allow her to continue to build her resume, be vindicated with re-election in 2010, and maintain herself as a DC outsider, someone who is from the heartland and is fed up with the cluster in DC.
