Tell you the truth, as a New England suburbanite who hasn’t grown up with guns but respects responsible ownership, I have found myself in the last 2 days thinking for the first time in my life about getting a permit, some lessons, and a firearm. That’s a BIG, BIG switch for me. I know I’m not alone.
I know that is a big step for many people. I didn’t grow up around guns, and had never fired one until basic training. When I was stationed in Alaska I learned to get used to them. The key, I think, is selecting an appropriate gun and then taking time to get familiar with it and shoot it. Besides, target shooting is fun.
