Well, this might be much ado about nothing, but let's hope some good comes out of this.

On the other hand, I still marvel over her husband, King Juan Carlos, telling Chavez to "shut up" in 2007.

The gays have fits about everything...

It really doesn’t matter. Somehow the First Amendment now means that you don’t dare speak about certain “verbotten” topics...

Sounds like the Spanish monarchy knows what’s what.

The Queen of Spain drew criticism Friday after she was quoted as condemning gay marriage, gay pride marches and abortion in an upcoming biography. “If these people want to live together, dress as grooms and get married, they might have the right to do so or not, depending on the laws of their countries. But they shouldn’t call it marriage, because it isn’t,” Queen Sofia was quoted as saying.=======================================

Draws ire? Who gives a rats ass what the homosexual agenda says. The statement from the Queen was one of correct.

God Save the Queen of Spain! She’s right. As a married woman, I have risked my very life to have children, and my husband has risked everything to support his family. No gay couple can say the same. They’re just good friends if anything!

Queen Sofia is a member of the now-ousted royal family of Greece, which was of Danish descent. I believe Prince Philip, the husband of Elizabeth II, is a relative.

Seems like you cannot say this in America anymore without risking your job, etc.

Pons said that although the Queen's views may have offended half of Spaniards, another half supported them, particularly elderly Catholics like Sofia, who will turn 70 Sunday.

Is this weird Spaniard suggesting that half of Spain are perverts?

ire of who?

this is about as real as that MSNBC divaman saying “some say” to cover his own opinions.

These are just reporters complaining.

Queen Sofia is a very strong and opinionated lady, and it is largely due to her diplomatic skills and force of personality that her husband is sitting on the throne of Spain and not an exile, like many of Europe’s royalty — including her own birth family.

And yes, she is first cousin (once removed) to Prince Phillip, Queen Elizabeth’s husband.
