Not to nitpick, but it’s “o’er,” a contraction of over. Not “ore,” as in iron or copper.

I'm all for keeping "The Star Spangled Banner", but if the anthem must change, I propose chuck Berry's "Living In the USA".

Oh well oh well I feel so good today
We just touched ground on an international runway
Jet-propelled back home from overseas to the USA

New York, Los Angeles
Oh how I yearn for you
Detroit, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
God I long to be at my home back in old St Lou

Did I miss the skyscrapers
Did I miss the long freeway
From the coast of California
To the shores of the Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did
Till I got back to the USA

Looking hard for a drive-in
Searching for a corner cafe
Where hamburgers sizzle on an open grill night and day
Yeah, and the jukebox jumping with records back in the USA

I'm so glad I'm living in the USA
Yes I'm so glad I'm living in the USA
Anything you want we got it right here in the USA

Ah we're so glad we're living in the USA
Yes we're so glad we're living in the USA
Anything you want we got it right here in the USA

Let’s Hope this won’t be the new national anthem:

We have gone from being the land of the free and the home of the brave to being the land of the managed and the home of the frightened.

I cannot believe that so many Americans are willing to sell their birthright of freedom for a bowl of government porridge.

This was my best shot at singing the song. I call it....

“The Star Spangled Banner Country Style”

so what exactly, would the new one be, Obama’s little diddy of a song about change..... I think being a former Marine, that we should make the new one the Marine Corps Hymn.... But in all honesty it shouldn’t be changed what so ever, it was written due to a war on freedom and that is exactly what it stands for. The true heart of an American and our blood shed on all the shores in all the world. I can’t even fathom what my freinds that I lost in Iraq would think about these people wanting to change our National Anthem. Look what this country is becoming...

She did a great job, especially for one so young. She has more sense than half of those in Washington!

I would never want to see the National Anthem changed. The only change I would consider is one line that you often see around the military town in which I live on July 4th, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. This is the “land of the free BECAUSE of the brave”.

I have sung non-professionally all my life; church and school choirs, festivals, even a few weddings.

I have sung the Star-Spangled Banner twice for events. It is WITHOUT A DOUBT the hardest song to sing correctly that I have ever done.

Having said that, I wouldn’t change it for all the gold in Fort Knox. Hearing the Marine Corps Chorus sing it will bring tears to the eyes of a battle-hardened vet.
