By GILLIAN WONG

The Associated Press

BEIJING

First it was baby milk formula. Then, dairy-based products from yogurt to chocolate.

Now chicken eggs have been contaminated with melamine, and an admission by state-run media that the industrial chemical is regularly added to animal feed in China fueled fears Friday that the problem could be more widespread, affecting fish, meat and who knows what else.

You are going to eat it one way or another.

Melamine is in every food.

Resistence is futile.

Use of melamine has been an open secret in Chinese food and animal feed industry for some time. That means that we all have been eating plastic for a while.:-)

Recently I ran across some reports from last year that melamine had been found in soy protein from China, with little apparent followup.

If Chinese babies did not get sick in tens of thousands, this problem would have still gone unnoticed.

The whole chinese environment is contaminated with melamine (and God knows what else) They spread it on their fields and deliberately put it in animal feed. There simply isn’t any way to avoid it if we continue to buy food from China. Buying things that are labeled “Made in USA” is no guarantee either because things made in the USA often contain numerous ingredients from China.

We are clearly the world’s dumbest nation if we allow this to continue.

Then Americans should stop buying ANYTHING made in China.

Our supermarkets' seafood cases are loaded with talapia from China. You must read all labels.

If an item cannot be purchased that is not manufactured either in the USA or one of the few friendly nations, then you don't need it.

Has anyone considered the likelihood that melamine causes liberalism? I’ve been convinced for years that flouridated drinking water does.

How well does he do with those who got away? I’ve heard that Obama is unpopular with Cuban and Russian emigrants, since they’ve already seen what ‘change’ he wishes to bring.
