Does the pool of Federal employees include the armed forces? Because I have serious doubts about the numbers otherwise... the civilian employees would vote for whomever keeps them employed and with raises...

If McCain wants to clean up... someone is losing their jobs or not getting raises...

“This bodes well... 68% of federal employees voted for Gore in 2000.”

I am a Federal employee and none of the people in my circle at work voted for Gore.

This is from the small subset of government voters who can read, otherwise its a good poll.

Did this survey include active military people?

That’s surprising.

One would think that federal employees would just LOVE Hussein, out of job security if nothing else.

As a former federal employee I can say most of my co workers voted the same as other citizens and since many of us were ex military we usually voted conservative. IMHO, blacks in the military and federal service will vote for Obama.

It will be interesting to see that if Obama wins and if four years from now you can find anyone he admits he voted for him.

I work for the US Army and I can tell you why the Fed Emp are leaning toward McCain. Obama has promised to cut the Military & cut the Missile Defense programs out completely.

As a retired USAF officer who spent more than his fair share of time in the Metro DC area, I can hazard a guess as to an additional reason. There are very few white career civil service types in the federal government who have not be victimized at least once by seeing their promotion, or new job, go to a less qualified Affirmative Action hire.

And then, as often happens, when that Affirmative Action hire has been promoted too far and too fast and cannot actually perform the job, the rest of the employees have to suck up the extra load and in addition to doing their own job, do the Affirmative Action hire's work too. And when this happens, these employees are absolutely livid, but have to keep quiet about it for fear of losing their jobs. But they absolutely seethe over it. And they seethe for long periods of time.

If my speculation is accurate, my guess would be that a lot of these civil servants have heard, loud and clear, Obama's not-so-coded message that Affirmative Action is going to receive new emphasis in the federal workplace. And they know who will be paying the price. And therefore, they aren't supporting Obama in the numbers one might anticipate.

Their Sept 2004 poll results (only one I could find) were similar:

“...51% say they are voting for George W. Bush. 43% are voting for John Kerry. 1% are voting for Ralph Nader and 4% are undecided.

Last May, when we asked the same question, 49% of readers went for Kerry and 41% said they were voting for Bush. ..”

It’s still good news... but literate gov workers might be an exception.

>> This bodes well... 68% of federal employees voted for Gore in 2000. <<

It seems pretty obvious to me. Federal employees in 2000 were holding their positions after 8 years of Clinton. Most of them owed their jobs to a Democrat President. Federal employees in 2008 are holding their positions after 8 years of GWB. Most of them owe their jobs to a Republican President.

For President Barack 0bama and his world wide 0bamacon cult, the Upcoming Election is "Just a Mere Formality!".

The polls show that Lord 0bama has won.

So just stop this stupid and outdated technicality of an Election.

0sama/bama is now our FUERHER UBER BAMA, er president of America and the entire world.
