To be honest to Barry, this is kind of misleading. In the quote, Richardson is only saying those who earn up to $120,000 are considered “middle class”. And they will get a tax cut. He doesn’t say those earning over $120,000 won’t get one.

I want to win but I don’t like dishonesty. There are better paths to take between now and election day.

What people forget is how people like Obama figure income, which just isn’t about how much money one makes from work and investment, but also includes hypothetical income that one might earn should he/she rent out his/her house.

I think you’re right. The context to this would nice before we jump all over it. 12 seconds is not a lot to go on.

But what alternative is there other than a weak argument that Obama might lower taxes below $X of income, raise taxes above $Y of income, and do nothing in between. I believe that outcome is unlikely, and if he tries it, he’ll blow a huge hole in the budget.”
