Divide and Conquer in New Jersey
Mailer | 20081030 | Unknown

So in today's mail, my wife and I received a mailer listing the pros and cons of two men running for our congressional seat in Somerset County. The two candidates in question are Michael Hsing and Leonard Lance. The mailer differentiates between Lance's moderate to liberal GOP stance and Hsing's stance as a staunch conservative.

Lance is the GOP candidate, Hsing, after losing in the primaries, is running as an independent. The mailer is aimed at conservatives and portrays Hsing as the better candidate. He's a social and fiscal conservative, pro-life, an RNC delegate in 2000 and 2004, anti-federal funding for embryoni stem cell research, and anti-gay marriage.

So what's the problem?

The ad is paid for by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. In other words, vote for Hsing and take votes away from Lane so that liberal democcratic dimwit Linda Stender can waltz into a formerly GOP seat and add the to the unholy majority.

They really want this seat in NJ, maybe in two years I'll run for it.

Yeah I saw that too. Is Hsing the problem or the fact that the dasterdly Tom Wilson, Chair of the NJ GOP, backs only RINOs and will actively undermine Conservatives?

Alas, I’m am compelled to vote for Lance as I don’t want Stender the Spender in office no matter who is president.

The purpleness of Somerset County disturbs me and I’m hoping we’ll go red this election.

You know, I got the same mailer today, and wondered how Hsing had the money to send it out, since he is self-financing. But the Donks have be dumping a lot of money into this race (NJ-7). I have gotten at least one, and most often two, direct mailings from Linda Stender every day for the past month and a half.

Lookie there... Right in the return address box... "Paid for by the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee". Lousy 'Rats. The flier does not even mention Linda Stender (who is a big spender...)'s name.

I was in Scotch Plains last Sunday, which is Linda Stender country, and the police officers were pulling up all of the Leonard Lance signs, but leaving behind all of the Linda Stender and Michael Hsing signs. I remarked to My Favorite Liberal that this was a pretty sleazy Democrat trick, but she said that they couldn't have been doing it on Stender's behalf, because they left Hsing's signs up, too.

I wound up agreeing with her, because I could not understand why they would do that. But I will definitely be pointing who paid for this mailing out to her tonight. I might be able to swing one more vote over for Lance!

She's a big Lib, but she wants people to play fair.

He lost in the primaries, that ought to tell you something.

This is NJ, don’t throw your vote away on a pipe dream.

A true conservative ran against Rudy in NY. The true conservative got between 1 and 1 1/2% of the vote.

Nearly enough to give us another four years of Dinkins.

I got that too. It’s obviously a dirty political trick by the Democratic campaign. But I think they are playing with fire this time and can get really burned as a result. They only hope that Hsing will take votes from Lance and weaken him to guarantee a victory for Stender. They did not count that Hsing has been campaigning hard right in Stender’s voter base - Asians, minority groups, and environmentalists, in all four counties. I just saw him this morning at Metropark train station at 7 am, at 29 degree temperature! The final outcome could be that he will take over a lot of votes from Lance, but probably as much from Stender too! This could really end up as a 3-way split. There is no sure win for Stender!

I’m sickened by Stender’s dirty trick but I’m more shocked by the fact that Lance shot himself in the foot by saying he is pro-choice in his own TV ads and mailers. He probably did himself in by doing that. Hsing’s campaign has sent out notices to many Republicans that “... I am not taking votes away (as a “spoiler”) from Lance , I’m simply picking up votes (as a “savior”) that he has abandoned! ...”

I’m a conservative, and my whole family is voting for Hsing because he is a true independent that I can see and he will be able to bring real change to DC.
