But on the housing issue, Vegas is one of four markets which has been blacklisted by banks. They simply don’t lend here anymore. Unless you are an A+ borrower and putting down a very sizeable downpayment don’t bother trying to get a loan. If FHA won’t take you, you’re likely doomed. I’ve seen millionaires get denied loans. Literally.

What are the other three?

"Any Las Vegas small newer homes going in the 70K range or less?"

Only the MSM says homes are being sold for $1.00.

A 4 x 4 pick up is 60 grand.

LOL! Had something similar happen in Minneapolis one time. I was searching for the nearest 24 hour store to get coffee and food.

Funny thing is that when we had a similar situation in many smaller cities, you could almost always find a truck stop diner (which is fine for engineering meetings, not so much for clients).

Over the years I’ve suffered the torture of the damned in secondary cities on business trips. Lost fedex packages, lost suitcases, missing messages, etc.

I actually have come to believe that some people who work in those hotels think they’re working at a fast food franchise.

The thing with Vegas is that the staff in most of the hotels understands why you are there and will typically try to solve whatever problem you encounter.

Seen the same thing in some big cities. The staff at the STL airport got to know me very well, as every time I had to fly there they lost at least one bag of stuff I had to check.

And (unfortunately) the places I used to go you had to drive to get there. There is little air service (non military) to Clovis,NM, and the only way to get there is a long drive through the desert.

Although you see some rather interesting things. Met a guy with a Dolorian in that town, and he took us for a ride (the Back to the Future car).

It’s sad that many employees in these places either don’t know or don’t care that the way to build loyalty is one customer at a time.

Southern Florida, Phoenix/Tucson & So/No California. That is where the overwhelming majority of the speculation occurred and the prices fell the most and a way disproportionate number of foreclosure are sitting. Entire subdivisions of hundreds of houses are vacant and in foreclosure in cities in CA and there are entire high rise buildings in downtown Miami which are entirely abandoned after rampart loan fraud and pump and dump loans.
