Golfer John Daly was taken into custody Sunday morning by Winston-Salem police after he was found drunk outside an area Hooters restaurant.
Police said in a statement Wednesday that said officers went to the restaurant on a medical call.
When they arrived, Daly was being treated by emergency workers after losing consciousness.
While at the restaurant, police said Daly "appeared extremely intoxicated and uncooperative," refused repeatedly to be taken to the hospital and was asked to leave the restaurant by several workers.

Taken into custody for what? Being intoxicated in public? If that’s the law then the jail in Portland should be full of the downtown street people. They are always blitzed.
This guy had the world by the tail and now he is losing it to alcohol. Sad.

I just wish I had a nickel for every time Daly has been drunk in public! I’d certainly have more nickels than he has right now!
John Daly, drunk, at hooters? This is news? Isn’t this a story like ‘the sun rose today’?
John has had a problem for years. I had hoped he had moved on. Evidently he hasn’t. The staff at Hooters were trying to get him to leave. The officers were called out. They had to realize he was unfit to drive. He may have been unfit to walk for all we know.
Grow-ups avoid this type of situation or have friends with them to help out. I hate to see a guy do this to himself.
Charlie Hough, Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden... it’s just a shame to watch another human melt down.
Daly needs an "intervention".

He said the cops were called to treat his teen-age daughter who had a medical issue.
Please give the family some privacy.
How about a nickle for every hamburger, diet coke, cigarette, candy bar, gambling bet, girl had sex with, and drug ingested.
