Maybe Mike Cox literally fears for his life...
The former Mayor of Detroit was a straight up street thug and he surrounded himself with real killers. Few, or maybe no, investigative reporters have the “stuff” to go after that.
Well, to be fair, the City of Detroit has it coming. They have allowed the whole defining deviancy down to be carried out to its logical conclusion.
Isn’t there something called “Hell Night” in Detroit where entire city blocks are burned by arsons?
Vote for McCain/Palin ‘08 and again for Palin ‘12.
October 30 is the date.
Yes...it’s called “Devil’s Night” and it has a long tradition in Detroit...when I was growing up there...I am long gone now...kids would go out the night before Halloween and soap car windows. That was about the extent of it.
In the sixties (naturally) it began to turn violent. Young hoods would torch empty buildings...and by that time, there were lots. By the eighties, most of the neighborhoods surrounding downtown were gone. I MEAN GONE.
If you spoke up against this and suggested the police lock these thugs up...Mayor Coleman Young called you a racist.
It’s been downhill from then on. Last month, the average selling price for a used home in Detroit was $9,200. These were home that were going for 85-200k two years ago.
I got my mother out in 2000, after she was mugged. The Detroit police TOLD ME TO MORE HER, she could not be protected.
Is it not amazing that the liberal media WILL NOT COVER the decline of this once great city???
....well, considering the media...maybe not.
Thanks for perpetuating this violent image of the "D".
Anyway, it was called "Devil's Night", (October 30) and IMHO, people with insurance took advantage of the situation in order to collect on their policies.
Anyway, it's all good now. October 30 is officially termed "Angels Night." People patrol their own and other neighborhoods (fancy that) and the fires are way down. There are some fairly strict curfews in effect, too, I think.
Oh, yeah, welcome to FR.
