For devout Jews, the unity of Jerusalem is a non-negotiable issue. They may be devout, but they also sound like devout Socialists, with their demands for more welfare payments.
I happen to support larger families. The Orthodox are reproducing and Israel's secular Left isn't. 10-12 kids when you do the math and know they grow up Jewish, Israel's future is secure. Besides, a lot of money is wasted in Israel on things detrimental to the country. Strengthening the family is a religious duty.
