again, let us take the stronger position of defining ourselves by who we are, not who we aren’t.

“...We don't have to be divisive to be true to our beliefs.”

What kinda postmodern nonsense have you been reading? Anyone who stands on strong principles is divisive. Reality check: Even when trying not to be “divisive” and tiptoeing on eggshells, someone in the room you're in will always be offended by something you say. I could argue that YOU are being divisive on this thread for even bringing it up. Can you see how silly the don't be “divisive” argument is?

...We don't have to be divisive to be true to our beliefs.

Unless 100% of the population agrees with us, we do. We especially do when a large chunk of the population is divisively trying to crush us because of our beliefs.

I just received an email from the NRCC trying to raise money by citing Bachmann. Either they have a lot of nerve (doubtful - they are elected Republicans) or they have changed their minds about supporting her. I’m not going to take a chance - I’ll donate to her.

Here is the full email:

Dear Friend:

When liberal Speaker Nancy Pelosi called Republicans “unpatriotic,” you didn’t see it on the front page of any newspaper. And you sure didn’t see it reported on MSNBC.

When Democrat Congressman Keith Ellison compared President George W. Bush to Hitler, media outrage was noticeably absent.

But here we are today, less than two weeks from the election, and the mainstream media are attacking conservative Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews last week, and twisting her words for suggesting that Barack Obama is too liberal to be President of the United States.

Here’s what Congresswoman Bachmann told conservative talk radio host Mike Gallagher yesterday about how the media is distorting her words:

“And they can’t take it because the point is what are Barack Obama’s policies? Are they for America or will they be against traditional American ideals and values? And I’ll tell you what. Punishing tax rates, redistribution of wealth, socialized medicine, inputing censorship in the form of the un-Fairness Doctrine and taking away the secret ballot from the worker has nothing to do with traditional American values. That’s why your listeners need to know. Otherwise the United States may be literally changed forever.”

If you agree with Congresswoman Bachmann and other conservatives running for Congress, please contribute $25, $30, $50 or whatever you can afford now and help us provide the support they need.

Or, you can make a direct contribution to Michele Bachman at her website: www.michelebachmann.com

The election is less than two weeks away, and we’re up against an unfriendly media, we’re being outspent by Democrats 4-to-1 and we have more Republican seats to protect than the Democrats.

Sincerely,

Pete Kirkham
Executive Director, NRCC

P.S. Don’t let the media continue to distort the truth. Join the NRCC in standing behind Congresswoman Bachmann as she fights off these attacks. Chairman Cole has campaigned for her, and both he and the NRCC have contributed the maximum amount allowed by federal law. We hope you will contribute to Congresswoman Bachmann, too.

Paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee

2300 per candidate.

Thank you. I knew that. The question was rhetorical to piss them off. Assuming anybody reads the email :)

“United we stand”

And if under Obama and his un-American ilk, divided we fall.

Guys I suggest we all give money to both Bachmann and Musgrave immidately as BOTH are in a group in congress I like to call “core conservatives” and are both fiscally and socially conservaitve (aka their the minority-with-in-a-minority that still upholds Reagan’s brand of Conservatism).

The media is desperate to make sure Republican conservatives don’t vote. This is the only way Obama wins. The stories about the Republicans knowing they will lose, Christian conservatives being disgruntled, the so called “conservative” writers saying Palin is a bad choice is a bunch of lies, lies and more lies.

The media is in full lying mode.

The drive-bys are ALWAYS in lying mode but the difference is the more desperate they become the more transparent this is.

If they are so concerned about these two candidates why don't they send money themselves!

Don't support these organizations (RNC, NRCC), support the individual candidates.

Didn’t they (RNC, Reps) do this to Palin in her 2006 election. It’s like they don’t want to win anymore.

Contribute directly. I just made a small donation to Bachmann. As a former PAC manager, I can say from experience, they LOVE to have a large number of small contributors. Just click “other” and donate $5, 10, whatever you can afford.

I agree the republicans even in state level races will not support the candidate elected in the primary unless that person is ‘their’ selection. Saw that here in SE MN where they did not get behind Draz ( I think) after he booted their ‘endorsed’ primary candidate(I think it was a state senate race). I’m sorry but the only endorsing they should publicly do is after the primary, if their ‘selection’ cannot defeat his opponent in the primary then evidently that persons message was wrong (and apparently their message needs refinement). They did support Draz in a later race for representative.

But then again in 2006 the republicans did not do much in this state from what I saw. They looked like they just threw in the towel and really didn’t care if they gained any seats anywhere.
