FAYETTEVILLE - John McCain enjoys a solid lead in Arkansas, according to a statewide poll. McCain leads Barack Obama 51 percent to 36 percent among polled registered voters, according to the Arkansas Poll.

That leaves 14 percent of Arkansas voters undecided, and those still undecided tend to be voters who identify themselves as Democrats, according to poll results.

If Hillary Clinton had been the Democratic nominee, 54 percent of participants would have voted for her.

The poll interviewed 1,628 people via telephone between Oct. 1 and Oct. 21. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.5 percent.

Arkansas is mostly Democratic. But they're mostly conservative. The vote for Hillary would have been a vote for the home state gal.

I was remembering how we were nervous about Tennessee and Arkansas leading up to the 2000 election. Funny what eight years can do!

I’m from Arkansas and we consistently cross party lines to elect our state officials. Most citizens are registered democrats because most all local politics on a county level are democratic. This is one state that being registered as a democrat doesn’t mean your voting Nobama.

A solid proof all inbreed rednecks in Arkansas support McCain-Palin ticket now.

If Hildebeast was a dem nominee they'd support her now by same or bigger margin. After all Slick Willy was their man.

My guess is the good folks of Arkansas are still doing penance for having foisted that pig slop governor and his cankled shrew wife of his on the nation.

So glad I live here. Except for Bill Clinton. Of coarse he ran as a conservative demo and then banned firearms. He will not be forgiven.
