I think they would “welcome any attack on the United States” regardless of elections or not.

Thereby telegraphing their support for Obama. Islamofacists want “change” that they can take advantage of.

Finally, an endorsement that will bring more liberals to McCain.

“Al Qaeda welcomes any attack on the United States in the period leading up to elections..”

Is this a tacit admission by Al Qaeda that they can no longer “conduct” an attack on the US? So they are essentially soliciting for someone else to attack the US?

I realize that things can get lost in translation, but it is an oddly worded statement.

I’ve decided that Al Qaeda are in reality, perverted masochists.

They must actually enjoy having their asses handed to them daily over the past 4-5 years by the US military.

Oh and this war was a stunning success of unprecedented historical proportions long before The Surge.

They’re theory is reverse psychology here: They say they support McCain, and that they are doing the attacks to get McCain into the WH. Then, attacks happen and they except Americans to be so furious they elect Zero.

They know nothing about US politics. Americans simply don’t vote Democrat when something like this happens.

Heck, they can barely pull one off in Iraq anymore.

Al Qaeda is gearing up for a #3 attack, within the window of 2010-2012. Frankly I think they are very predictable, same target every new administration, increasing in intensity. I think 2010 will be their actual target year, within June - December of that year.

I posted earlier today my rebuttal to this and to the article by the Washington Post yesterday that talked about the same subject.

Yup....this is so much BS it’s almost funny. It was just the other day they supported Obama and meant it.

Such statements are intended to encourage sudden jihad syndrome or isolated crazies to strike out on their own against the great satan.

Well, it appears AQ has been reduced from planning and executing to welcoming attacks. Obviously a rather lame PR attempt for zero. Not much better than the LSM.

It welcomes any attack on the United States in the period leading up to elections, as a Republican candidate for the success of "reckless" John McCain That's funny endorsing a candidate by using negative talking points from the other candidates team. When has that ever been done before? Oh, wait it's coming to me, um NEVER. This is as phony as a Democrat kissing babies at the State Fair.
