Ridiculous. He saved your keister for eight years. Thanks for the gratitude.
Indeed. Could you imagine if W had actually lead his own party in cutting spending and eliminating government handouts instead of expanding government's role in education and Medicare spending? Perhaps even reduced the debt?
Not to mention exposing the Leftist Media lies about the Iraq ware, Gitmo, and the slander of our military?
I repeat:
Could you imagine if W had actually lead his own party?
Have you watched the rallies? McCain talks of “change” and “reform” and “going against his own party.” McCain has gone against the party on CFR, on global warming, on immigration, on judges, on “torture,” and several other prominent topics.
So what does the rallying public do when McCain boasts of “going against his own party?” They cheer!
Are there tons of Democrats at these rallies or just mind-numbed pubbies?
Sounds like Juan spiked the Kool-Aid with Aricept.
Nothing to see here. Just more proof every honest thinker has known since he won the nomination: McCain is a horrible candidate.
Never forget the part Huckablob played in foisting this grizzled old relic on the GOP. With the economy in the tank, Mitt Romney as the candidate would now be running circles around Obambi if Huckablob hadn't helped MacQueeg win the nomination.
Hey, Huckablob, how's your hatred of Mormons working out now for you?
George W. Bush did not "save my keister". We who have served in the Armed Forces on active duty, during the entire Reagan Administration as in my particular case, and those who are serving on active duty in the Armed Forces now are the ones who "save keisters".
George W. Bush has served as a war leader for the past eight years and, as a war leader, History will judge him.
As a war leader, George W. Bush has so utterly failed in his role that, right now, the U.S. Home Front is so thoroughly demoralized that it may very well elect Barack Hussein Obama as President of the United States in two weeks at which point America will be in an unimaginably dangerous position for the next four years.
Abraham Lincoln had battlefield disaster after battlefield disaster handed to him by his Generals and, through his leadership, inspired the Home Front to persevere and win the Civil War.
George W. Bush had spectacular battlefield victories handed to him by his Generals and his abysmal leadership has allowed the Home Front to become so utterly demoralized that the odds are that America will vote to voluntarily surrender in Iraq in two weeks.
Correct. I dread seeing that famous pic of Mac smiling happily as Bush warmly cradles him.
Bush promised us that he would cut spending, but he did very little to do so. The President is a likeable guy, but he was just wrong on a number of things, and McCain is right about that.
Given the choices of Bush v Kerry and Bush v Gore, I would vote for Bush both times, just like I did in 2000 and 2004.
Bush is a likeable guy, and I wish him well. But if he doesn’t want criticism from conservatives, he sould have vetoed at least some of those spending bills he signed, and he shouldn’t have fed the growing government monster so often.
No offense but when many of us called Bush out on his spendaholic ways back in 2002, excuses were made and criticisms brushed aside. Ironic that now the inevitable consequences of such big govt nonsense have come home to roost, many bots have belatedly “seen the light.”
You want GOP big govt christian socialism? Don’t be surprised when you end up with an Obama presidency. Am not happy about that in the least but some of us attempted to stop Bush before he took the GOP over a cliff. Want to win elections? Stick with the “Leave Me Alone” coalition.
As Dennis Miller said on O’Reilly last night, it would be nice to hear McCain hammer the other team: The Democrats.
McCain’s internal polling is telling him to distance himself from Bush, in order to attract independants and moderate democrats.
Overall, i like Pres. Bush, and it doesn’t bother me one bit that McCain is having to do this.
I’m sure Bush understands and could care less.
BULL! Using that logic you'd also have to credit Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, LBJ, JFK, and Harry Truman with saving our "keisters" from the "big potato" during the Cold War. He didn't do a damn thing more than what his Constitutional "defend and protect" oath requires; "saving our keisters" is what the American men and women in uniform do!
Rarely do I see postings on FR that make me want to say "I wish that I had written that!" Yours is one of them...super job!
OTOH, I think I've said before that the McMaverick really doesn't count as a Republican...
Honestly, I dimly appreciate on some level that he must somehow distance himself from Bush, but I think he could do it with a bit more class. He did it when he told BHO something to the effect that, "I'm not Bush. If you wanted to run against him, you should have done that 4 years ago."
Now, THAT was classy. 4 years ago, BHO wasn't even a US Senator.
I just want this to be over. We are screwed, no matter who wins.
First thank you for your service. But you must be joking. What you have is typical BDS. We’ve won a huge victory in Iraq because Bush persevered. But you can’t see that, or you won’t see that. Criticize Bush for his failures, but recognize where he’s been successful. Many lesser presidents would have quit. Bush didn’t. You could say the same bad things about Lincoln as you did Bush, in fact many did. The straight facts are we won in Iraq because Bush stayed the course. Here’s hoping some day you’ll see that.
