We did that here in our town when our troops came home. It was awesome! The radio stations and all the media was there. They had police cars at each county line to welcome the bus and escort it to the next county line. The bus stopped at every school and all the teachers had their class out to welcome them home. Flags lined the bus route. Cars were pulled over along the highway for 70 miles from town with people standing outside their cars cheering. The media had people following the bus and reporting its progress and where it was. There were about 10,000 people outside the armory waiting and when the bus came in sight, the place just erupted. They had firetrucks in the driveway with crossed flags that the bus drove under. They had a huge celebration planned for that evening. None of the troops knew about it and at first they didn’t know why all the cars were pulled over and they said finally one guy piped up and said, “Holy Cow! Thats for us!” LOL
