Farrah Douglas is one of three candidates running in the November election for a seat on the city council in Carlsbad, California. Born and educated in Iran, she married an American working there. The family moved to California at the time of revolution. Carlsbad, 30 miles north of San Diego, has a population of 100,000.
Dear Carlsbad Voter,
I am asking for your vote for the Carlsbad City Council. In return, I promise an open door and an open mind. I will be an available and responsive council representative who believes in a simple governing motto: Listen, Learn, Decide, Act. Three critical issues will occupy the next City Council:
A hyphenated American is not an American at all.
This is just as true of the man who puts Native
before the hyphen as of the man who puts German
or Irish or English or French before the hyphen.
Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul.
Our allegiance must be purely to the United States.
We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other
allegiance.
Theodore Roosevelt, 12 October 1915
That is good to see, is she a small business woman as well?
BTW Cyrus, there is a chat room for CA Free Republic members.
If you knew that, don’t laugh at me too hard..
I live in Carlsbad and both my husband and I mailed our absentee ballots in yesterday. We voted for Farrah Douglas and Keith Blackburn for City Council.
Hey, thanks for the info. I’m just filling out my ballot tonight, and was on google, looking for info on what political party the various city council candidates belonged to. I couldn’t find it on their websites at first glance, but luckily google lead me to this post. (I should have known that I would find it on FR)
