Sarah Palin, in her debut speech as the Republican vice presidential nominee nearly two months ago, made sure to pay tribute to Democrat Hillary Clinton and her historic presidential campaign.
Today in Nevada, flanked by female supporters, she renewed that pitch to female voters in a way that seemed to accuse Democrat Barack Obama of only paying lip service to women.
"Our opponents think they have the womens vote all locked up, which is a little presumptuous since only our side has a woman on the ticket, she said, according to press accounts. "When it came time for choosing a vice president, somehow Barack Obama just couldn't bring himself to pick a woman who got 18 million votes in the primary."
Telling the crowd in Henderson that it was a "too familiar story," Palin added. "The qualifications were there, but for some reason the promotion never comes. There's always some long explanation ... some unseen barrier, some excuse."
Obama and Clinton campaigned together Monday in Florida, and enthusiastically praised each other. Obama said that Clinton had inspired his two daughters and women everywhere.
While some of Clinton's most ardent backers were upset that she was not offered the V.P. slot, recent polls suggest that the vast majority are supporting Obama over Republican John McCain.

It’s going to be even worse for Obama after he kills his own grandmother.
Left-wing identity politics crap has no place on a supposedly conservative ticket.
It’s about time Sarah pulled the Hillary card from the deck and played it. Attack Obama from all different directions so he’s always on the defense. Brilliant move!
You should save time and just cut and paste “I hate Palin” in all of these threads.
We’re trying to win to save this nation. You object?
Bingo
Don’t break your arm there.
Be a realist. It’s a politician’s job to maximize the number of votes they can muster. Sure PUMA’a may not be your cup of tea, but after the Democratic Convention they were hurting big time, and there were a lot of them. You call it identity politics, I call it reaching out and giving a voter a reason to vote for you. By the way don’t believe the MSM regarding PUMAs not voting for McCain in big numbers. Some people predict it may be as high as 30% of the 18m who voted for Hillary who defect. PUMA’s have been instructed by their leaders to lie to pollsters regarding their voting intentions. They may not only be voting for McCain in big numbers but screwing up the EV projections as well.
Patting your principled self on the back.
The comments section needs a good FReepin’ — it’s below the article, at your link.
Susan Estrich has said all along she believes at least 1/3 of them will go McCain.
Having principles is such a drag, man [/s]
Obama campaigning and funding for Odinga who supported the adoption of Sharia Law in Kenya is not good for women rights.
Good. Hillary’s voters have several reasons to go with the McCain/Palin ticket. I can’g say that I blame him as Hillary is NOT my favorite person, but the fauxbama dissed her every way he could during the debates and elsewhere. Anyone would notice how he did it, but women would be far more offended by what he did than men. I think a lot of women would take it personally. Moreover, if Hillary and her supporters want to see Hillary in 2012, the fauxbama has to lose. I think Susan got this one right.
Every now and then she says something intelligent. Sadly it’s usually followed up by something that reminds me that she was Dukakis’s campaign manager.
“Its going to be even worse for Obama after he kills his own grandmother”.
...LOL!!!
