Palin accuses Obama of gender bias

HENDERSON, Nev., Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, in an appearance Tuesday in Nevada, accused Barack Obama of discriminating against women.

Palin, accompanied by a handful of former Hillary Clinton supporters, said that the Democratic presidential nominee "couldn't bring himself to pick the woman who got 18 million votes in the primaries" when he chose a vice president, The Washington Post (NYSE:WPO) reported.

"The qualifications are there, but for some reason the promotion never comes," she said. "You've got to ask yourself, why wasn't Senator Hillary Clinton even vetted by the Obama campaign?"

Lynn Rothschild, a member of the Democratic Platform Committee, Elaine Lafferty, a former editor-in-chief of Ms. Magazine, and some local leaders of the National Organization for Women joined Palin at the Henderson Pavilion. One NOW chapter in Los Angeles has endorsed Palin.

Palin also charged that women in John McCain's campaign are paid more equally than those in the Obama campaign. An Obama aide acknowledged the disparity, telling the Post that McCain has more senior staff who are women.

It would be nice if she mentioned that Obama and Biden pay their female staffers less than their male staffers.

I wouldn’t say it was gender bias but hey, whatever.

She did say that about Obama. It was very pointed.

From the other thread:

And she accused Obama of committing gender bias himself by not paying men and women on his Senate staff equally. She said Senate payroll records found women on his staff received 83 cents for every dollar males received. “Does he think that the women aren’t working as hard?” she asked. “Does he think that they are 17% less productive? And Barack Obama can’t say that this is just the way that its always been done around the Capitol, because I know one senator who actually does pay equal wages for equal work, Sen. John McCain.”

I was there. Huge turnout for Gov Palin. She was fantastic! I heard on the radio driving home that the crowd was 7,000. WOW!

I counted the Obama protesters - 13 earlier in the day, 20 at the end as we were filing out of the Pavilion.

I feel good about McCain and Nevada now! ;-)

I was there. She did mention it. She really played the woman card heavy at this event. GREAT crowd from her, and the folks treat her like a SUPERSTAR!

Oh for crying out loud! Palin is such a moronic whack-job! How did we get stuck with this joke of a VP candidate? And what did Obama ever do to deserve this huge gift to his campaign from the GOP?

I suppose that in the interest of affirmative action, she thinks Obama should have casually overlooked the fact that HILLARY IS A LYING, CHEATING, STEALING CRIMINAL! Or is Palin so effing clueless that actually doesn’t even KNOW that HILLARY IS A LYING, CHEATING, STEALING CRIMINAL? Or is she just like Hillary and thinks there’s nothing wrong with being a LYING, CHEATING, STEALING CRIMINAL as long as you win?

Dateline: America

Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska today hoisted John McCain of Arizona onto her shoulder and ran him into the White House.

I can't wait till she's running for the number 1 slot.

Who knows why NOW basically puts up with the treatment the Dems give them, could be they are soo tied to abortion as their issue that they will put up with anything.

Now why they say nothing when Gov Palin is savaged in the media is beyond me.

For myself, I’m glad that Gov Palin is making a pitch for women voters, even a small swing to McPalin in the woman’s vote would be a huge boost.

I think that this was the bigger headline:

Oh, wonderful. She babbles tired old feminist BS like “women get paid 83 cents for every dollar a man makes” (I remember hearing that one over and over again in college, usually in the same breath as “4 out of 5 women will be raped sometime in their life”), and a Republican crowd treats her like a “superstar”.

This election can’t be over fast enough for me. The sooner we get to work on finding some serious candidates to run in 2012, the better. The GOP is handing the White House to Obama on a silver platter, and Republicans are cheering. What is this country coming to?

One NOW chapter in Los Angeles has endorsed Palin.

The president of that NOW organization was also in attendance with Palin.

Why wouldn’t they? Palin is spouting all the political nonsense that’s always been dear to the hearts of the NOW and Ms. crowd. Now she’s even joining them in whining that Hillary’s been done wrong because she didn’t get to be on the Dem ticket.
