30% of citizens say they would personally rather see Obama elected president of the United States,

So we are to consider other countries' citizens desires??? These other counties have frequently derided the USA, frequently voted against the USA in the UN forums. Frequently critiqued our every move.

BUT...frequently TOOK (even demanded) our foreign aid in the form of food, energy, shelter, medical staff/supplies, nuclear umbrella, reconstruction of their infra/intra structures, sacrifices of our Armed Service members.

Hmmmmmm...are these 30% of citizens lined up to illegally enter this country?

I totally support Obama being their president.

--all the more reason for American citizens to be concerned.

George Washington's farewell words to his beloved country warned of the "spirit of Party" which is such a distraction now, of how that spirit could damage the republic and lead to the dangers of foreign influence. A reading of his entire Farewell Address is advised, but the following excerpt has relevance to those examining the candidates in this election:

I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally.

" This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

" The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty."

" Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

" It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another."

Only problem is, there is no such thing as a world citizen.

Of course not, but it wouldn't have nearly the propaganda value to write "Foreigners Prefer Obama to McCain by Nearly 4-to-1."

Would be a great TV ad: Flash pictures of all the world’s scummy dictators and give the 4:1 figure. Then flash pictures of our brave men and women in uniform and show another 4:1 figure. That’s it, commercial over.

62% of world citizens surveyed did not have an opinion.

That's the obvious one right there. Most don't care who we elect, and shouldn't. They have their own lives to live.

Interesting. McCain is preferred in SE Asia. Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, and Georgia (the country). Tied in Lithuania (which does not like Russia).

So what ...do the French give a rat’s posterior about what we think about who they elect as president? Ditto for any other country. So why should care what other countries think about OUR election?

Also interestingly absent: Vietnam

Don’t know if they do polling there or not. However, both Laos and Cambodia prefer McCain. Think they remember which candidate was fighting to try to save them 40 years ago and which candidate has friends who supported their genocide?

Also,

Kenya: 89-3 for Obama. Odinga Stockholm syndrome.

Does this mean we get to vote on the leaders of every country outside the U.S. ? There’s some change I’d like to vote for...

I wonder why they didn’t poll Israel.....

Some interesting results. McCain is getting more support in Madagascar and Liberia than Bush got in Chicago. And those are the 2 countries polled in Africa that most think it matters.

“In individual countries, only Georgia and the Philippines prefer McCain to Obama.”

And LAOS by 1 point, Imagine that. And Cambodia by 9% to 4%.

Saudi’s 50-19 Obama, Japan 66% Obama. 70% of Turks don’t care. 91% of India does care. Canada near what I would expect. If they were a state I’d bet they’d go 70-30 Obama.

France and Spain and Italy are worse than the Bronx with McCain is single digits.

Pakistan tied at 5% each.
