OBAMA: Right. Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher. And he’s also a wonderful teacher.

With my limited knowledge of theology, I would classify this as more Islamic than Christian. In the Christian faith, Jesus is not a bridge between God and man. Jesus is God incarnate as a man.

In Islam, Mohammed is not God incarnate, he is a bridge between God and man, a prophet.

Pastor Wright, the man that Obama says brought him to Christ, is a former muslim.

I don’t recall ever hearing Pastor Wright make a public statement about why he left Islam and became a preaching Christian. What was the transitional point in his life?
