Obama to hold jobs summit in Fla. with governors
A clever campaign trick? No. He's holding a jobs summit Tuesday in economically precarious Florida, with participation by the governors of several states that went Republican four years ago and for which the Democratic presidential nominee is making a serious play this time around.
With the current economic crisis creating favorable conditions for Democrats, Obama has focused his final-stretch message almost entirely on that topic and almost entirely on traditionally Republican turf. The subject of the battered economy, and battered households, is particularly timely in Florida, which has unemployment above the national average and one of the worst foreclosure rates.
So, on a two-day swing aimed at turning Florida his way, Obama planned to hammer home the message that he has the best economic plan during Tuesday's roundtable. The event, amounting to a mass public endorsement of his economic proposals, was drawing the governors of Michigan, Ohio, New Mexico and Colorado to the town of Lake Worth on Florida's east coast.
All the states except Michigan, which Republican John McCain recently abandoned, voted for President Bush in 2004 and all four now have Democratic governors.
In Colorado and Ohio, McCain is believed to be down, but within or close to the margin of error in polls. Florida, once solidly in McCain's corner, now is a tossup. And in New Mexico, Obama appears to have a comfortable lead.
Also participating in the discussion are Google Chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker, an Obama campaign adviser.

Is he doing this via satelite?
0bama goes to government officials to hold a ‘jobs summit’?
Shouldn’t he be meeting with business leaders instead?
No, see, you don't understand how this "spread the wealth around" stuff works. He NEEDS those governors in order to get lists of the people who have stuff so he can take it from them and give it to people who don't have stuff. That way, they don't actually have to work.
Socialist move, but still a good move for him.
It was a rhetorical question designed to elicit thought.
I see it was successful. ; )
He’s in Hawaii now, I believe.

And I’m sure our left leaning governor Crist is all ears.
I saw McCain at a rally in Melbourne on Friday..Crist was there...gave a 3 min pep speech and then proceeded to look at his watch no less than 3 times while McCain was speaking.
He really wanted that V.P. spot. I mean he even got engaged for it and probably dumped his boyfriend.
LOL - Crist is such a disappointment in so many ways.
Although I live in Melbourne, I did not go to the rally (job thingy I do to pay for deadbeats).
Welcome to the People's Republic of America.

Saw Crist on the TV the other day. First time I had ever seen the man. Oh, he is creepy. How did he get elected?
Note to the nation: Wanna see what 'Rats and RINOs can do for you? Just check out the condition of Upstate NY. But hurry. At the rate people and jobs are fleeing there soon won't be much to see.
He slithered in under the guise of Republicanism (of course us conservatives saw him for the libtard he is).
There is something a little weird about him, huh? He is a very nice guy...he just spends too much time in the tanning bed or something.
He came to office riding on Jeb Bush's popularity. I forget what statewide office he held, but he became heir apparent.
Jobs Summit? Cracks me up. My company has 12 open positions accounting for 10% of the total workforce. At least two of them have been available more than 90 days.
I read the help wanted ads in the Sunday paper and there are hundreds of jobs available. Why the big fuss about jobs? There are plenty available.
Well, I’ll tell you. Almost all of the jobs available want high school graduates or higher with no felony convictions or drug abuse history, and good computer skills.
Anyone else will forever be relegated to manual labor or the fast food industry.
Stay in school, don’t do drugs, obey the law, learn to operate a computer. How hard is that?
Hey Jennifer Loven,
Has the check cleared yet? Or is this being counted as an in-kind campaign contribution?
