Not really that surprising. If Lampson has a record of voting for more funding for veterans issues such as VA Hospitals, etc., the VFW PAC will endorse him.
As for the NRA, they will endorse any incumbent with a good record on gun rights over any challenger with a good or great view on gun rights: The NRA’s point is that the incumbent is a proven commodity on their single issue and therefore is to be protected. Hell, the NRA used to endorse the “Godfather of the New Left” Senator George McGovern all the time - because he was damned near perfect on their issue. It’s what you get with single-issue groups.
I'm an absolutist about the 2nd. If you are not in jail,or on probation, you get your guns. No permits, no permission, no tax and no license.
The primary reason of the 2nd is not hunting or self defense against some meth head. It is to attack and overthrow the government when it becomes tyrannical.
