The mainstream media began a frenzied investigation of Joe the Plumber this week. His "high crime" wasn't anything he said. Instead Joe the Plumber has earned the ire of the MSM because of what Barack Obama said to him, namely that he wanted to "share the wealth." As a result of inadvertently revealing his collectivist yearnings to Joe the Plumber, the latter gentleman is having every last detail of his background investigated including his modest tax lien and the fact that (gasp!) his first name isn't really Joe. That last charge is actually quite laughable since there are probably millions of people in this country who don't use their first name (including your humble correspondent). Perhaps we should take a trip back in time and impeach President Thomas Woodrow Wilson for ditching his first name.
While the media have been falling over each other doing intensive investigations of Joe the Plumber, they have been mostly ignoring Barack Obama's good friend in whose living room his political career was launched in Chicago: Bill Ayers aka Bill the Bomber. There are two main reasons why the MSM chooses to ignore Bill the Bomber. One is that they don't want to do anything that might harm Obama's presidential campaign. The other reason is that many in the MSM share Bill the Bomber's values and therefore sympathize with him. The usual excuse for Bill the Bomber by the media is that maybe he was radical in the past but today he is a respected member of society. You can see a lot of this attitude in an Associated Press article about Bill the Bomber published today (emphasis mine):

Anybody else out there want on PJ's NewsBusters PING List?
Good article, PJ
"Please folks, move along, nothing to see here. There is no Bill the Bomber, only Joe the EVIL Plumber, who we are dealing with appropriately."
Questioning “The One” will become a criminal act, most likely a felony, if Obama is elected
While I would rather post this as a separate article, I will say here that what is happening to Joe The Plumber, just because he asked an honest question that elicited an honest but troubling answer from the bomma shows the nazi tendencies that accompany him and what will come to America if he is elected....

Jim Lehrer (Disgraced PBS, Democrat): "At PBS, we ignored that the top Palin Troopergate Investigator was a Phony Marine.
We ignored that Obama's Odinga atrocities in Kenya that left thousands murdered and raped.
We ignored that David Singleton and the Scranton Times-Tribune conspired a fake story disproven by the Secret Service.
We ignored that ACORN was founded by Obama's bomber-friend Ayers.
And we ignore own financial entanglements, don't we? Speaking of which,
how many of Gwen Ifill's book on Obama's January 2009 Coronation would you like?"
Now what?
Now what?
Joe the Plumber vs Bill the Bomber. Who would you prefer to be friendly with?
I hope that you didn't mean what you wrote, because you've just accused Joe the plumber of being a "nazi."
Vetting” the Media (edited for language)

A lot of people want to know why we shouldn’t begin “vetting” the media — and by “vetting,” I do in fact mean vetting. I mean starting a fund to put ***** detectives on them and begin outing them, one by one:
In the closet.
Hits his wife.
******.
Stoned out of his mind on coke half the time.
Etc.
And to reduce costs, I’m sure some budding citizen journalists-detectives would be wiling to take a night a week following these bastards around, taking pictures.
The media’s position that Joe the Plumber who merely asked a question must be “vetted” out of existence certainly supports the full-blown “vetting” of them.
After all, far more turns on the questions they ask and... refuse to ask, more importantly.
Will we do this?
I’ve had angry phases where I was within inches of proposing just this. Even starting a corporation with limited liability protections to do so.
It may be time.
But not now. There are only two weeks left. The media isn’t changing. They are in the tank for Obama; this is the full-court press. If we “got” one or two of these bastards by election day, what effect? None.
However, I have been loathe to even post such a notion in the past. It’s too ugly, too vicious.
Not anymore.
It is their own “rule” — those who ask questions that harm one’s preferred candidate must be hounded and harassed and humiliated until they are silenced.
If this is the rule they impose on everyday citizens, it’s time for everyday citizens to impose it on them.
Yes, this is where we’re headed. And while I used to greet the prospect with disgust, now I’m comfortable with it.
It is their own “rule.”
They will have to live by it, same as all of us.
Joe the Plumber was the last straw.
He was the last “freebie.”

LOL. Maybe one of those guys at the rallies dressed as plumbers should carry a placcard with the title of this thread on it. Maybe FOX will pick it up.
That thing is SACRY!
It’s a lot easier than that. We know a majority of liberals do not watch news, read newspapers or listen to talk radio. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so ignorant.
So who’s reading and watching new outlets? - must be a lot of conservatives. As conservatives, do not EVER watch anything affiliated with NBC (esp. MSNBC) or CNN. Don’t watch ABC or CBS news. If you think your hometown newspaper is too liberal, don’t subscribe and let them know why.
If enough conservatives just took those steps, it would more swiftly hasten the demise of the DBM.
Now what? Many are already canceling subscriptions and boycotting sponsors as they can, which is having some effect on the MSM's bottom line. Beyond that and spreading the word ourselves, I'm not sure what we can do.
This is what I’ve been saying all week. I now know more about Joe Wurzlebacher than I do of Ayers and Obama hinself.
I noticed a story at Newsbusters featuring Gergen and Rollins making fun of Joe’s lack of a licence and tax problems.
The MSM has completely missed the point. It was never about Joe the Plummer. Brittney Spears could have asked the same question. The issue is in the answer. Apparently these pundits and MSM types just don’t get it. Gergen suggested that Joe should have been vetted by the McCain campaign. I’m glad he wasn’t.
The fact that the MSM would go searching under every rock to discredit Joe serves to highlight the media bias and how out of touch they are.
Finding out that Joe has problems with taxes and licenses (?) just points to the confiscatory and regulatory nature of trying to eke out a livelihood in today’s society. I have been involved in the building trades for the last twenty-five years and am familiar with all these issues, and they just make Joe more real.
But his real name is Sam. OMG
Scary?
I’m not terribly afraid of it.
But then again, I’m not Bull the Boomer either...
