This got missed...

J. Expand the DEA, while decriminalizing most drugs. Drug enforcement should be a states issue unless a constitutionally-mandated federal crime has been committed. Drug abuse should never be decriminalized. And BTW, drug abuse is bringing down our nation.

I like your comments.

Savage has good eyesight, in that he sees the problems very clearly.

I’d like to propose a middle ground between tariffs and “free trade”. It seems to me that “free trade” is often not free. If China uses slave labor and scorched-earth polluting practices to crank out goods from their factories, then I hardly call that “fair trade”.

I would be more than willing to use a tariff on our side in order to equalize those imbalances.

The problem with tariffs is the country firing off the tariffs is actually shooting itself in the foot. Tariffs can hurt the country being levied, but it also means consumers in this country who desire the quality of a competitively-priced product are going to have to pay more for it and it may become unavailable. In that sense, it weakens us economically.

Probably one of the best things that could happen to China’s slave labor/Communism is economic health through the free market. The more interaction with China economically (non-military) the more light is shown and influence is brought to bear on them. Economic health puts more pressure on oppressive regimes as people become freer and more independent and knowledgeable. Tariffs historically have been miserable failures serving only to hurt the one imposing the levies and making matters worse for the people of the country being levied.

Milton Freidman and I see no good coming from tariffs. Tariffs are a no-win situation.

Granted, but I am thinking about how China’s pollution affects us in the long run. It is in our self interest to get them to stop not only pollution, but slave labor, religious persecution and forced abortions. A tariff by us as a disincentive to those activities should be pursued.

You should have titled your post, "Why Savage Will Never Be President of the United Socialist States of America."

I disagree with a couple of points, but overall the manifesto is much better than the current pseudo-conservative blather.

I am a huge Savageaholic but he is in fantasyland with his ideas for a political party. I suspect he will lose interest in this like he has lost interest in dozens of other ideas he has had.

Anyone remember the contest to find a substitute host for him? Hahahah!

Look, lots of conservatives we know have blind spots. Bush, McCain, etc come to mind.

Savage’s blind spots are similar to Pat Buchanan’s, but of course, Savage is Jewish, and he won’t have the blind spots regarding Israel that Pat has.

I still value Savage’s insights.

On the sub: It’s been Rick Roberts pretty often.

On the political party, the best strategy is to make sure we can re-take the GOP, _REGARDLESS_ of who wins the election.

Let’s pray hard and work harder the next two weeks.

Savage laid claim to "Trickle Up Poverty" last week.

Rush used the term today.

Check this out from Sept 25 by Cameron Salisbury.
