McCain shows way to ruin a legacy
San Jose Mercury News ^ | 10/14/08 | Don Whitebread

John McCain's campaign has shifted its focus to exaggerating or falsifying reports that Barack Obama associated with any number of dangerous characters, all debunked repeatedly by reliable sources. Voters are paying better attention this year, and McCain is still behind in the polls.

The question now is whether McCain will pursue his current scorched earth campaign. McCain's image and the legacy of conservatism will be ruined if his campaign leaves Republicans as an angry mob, sure that a foreign terrorist traitor could not have been elected fairly.

He needs to show us the honor and decency that made us like him in the past and campaign on ideas and issues, not hate.

There you have it, folks. Moonbats are now resorting to the old refrain "all charges were debunked and proven untrue by reliable sources." All criticism of O is nothing but fictitious and malicious slander.

It must be hard to breathe when you go through life with your head stuck so deep in the sand.

People WANT to be deceived.

They want to believe LIES over TRUTH.

They are too lazy to check the FACTS that the Obomination is EVIL. He's worse than the Clinton's. He's to the LEFT of Adlai Stevenson - and that's very bad.

debunked by who? Even Obama has admitted he " Knew" of Ayers bombings but assumed he was repented.

Rev. Wright has never ever renounced his racist views and out of Obama's mouth he quit the church.

San Jose Mercury how is your revenue quite down I assume.

Four years of Obama, and people will see just how evil his friends can get. The sheeple will be sick of the Obama pudding the MSM spoon feeds them, but it will be too late.

Ah, the evidence continues to mount for the effectiveness of going negative. The McCain camp cannot back off.

I have a slightly different assessment of the situation.

What they’re saying is that they want McCain to go ahead and concede the election and do so graciously, and if he does, they (the media) will love him again. They’re trying to convince McCain to give up.

I think the only attack on Obama that could gain traction now is linking him to the failed economic policies that led to our economic downturn. McCain needs to forget about Ayers and focus on Obama's lawsuits to compel subprime lending. That's what people are upset about; McCain is a fool if he doesn't tell people that the "Messiah" is, in fact, one of the architects of Wall Street's bloodbath.

" think the only attack on Obama that could gain traction now is linking him to the failed economic policies that led to our economic downturn."

How can someone who has only spent 143 days in the Senate be so responsible for this damage? Your argument defeats one of the main talking points against Obama.

“all debunked repeatedly by reliable sources.”

Back in the 1960’s, the Left had their own reality, too. You can’t talk these people out of it, but you can prevent them from running the country.

The Dems have good tactical response but no strategic depth. Quoting old die hard marxist professors stuck on the opiate of failure of old racial incitements of the kind Ayers never outgrew is not a stable political movement, ask Jim Jones.

That would be the California crawl. Yet another in the extremely long list of reasons why I fled the state. Anyone who is remotely conservative should do likewise.
