The Sun Times today gave a major clue that Barack Obama will indeed go down with Tony Rezko, sooner rather than later. It looks as though Rezko is about to turn on Alexi Giannoulias, the 30-year old State Treasurer of Illinois (who was elected only because Obama backed him).
Here’s where all the clues are…and then we’ll walk you through the local Chicago politics on how today’s hint by the Sun Times has us convinced, for the first time ever, that prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could indeed send Barack Obama to jail. We need to repeat that: we never believed, until now, that Obama would go to jail for anything related to Rezko. Today, this breaking news about what Rezko is singing to the Feds about makes us reconsider all of that. Barack Obama will serve a prison sentence in the next few years — because knowing Fitzgerald, there is no reason he would be going through all of this if that was not the targeted goal in the long term.

This has been “breaking” for several days. Hope the next thread on this subject actually has something real to go on.
Obama, is TBTF (too big to fail) on this in 3 weeks. This should have hit 3 months earlier. Besides, it doesn’t sound like he is the first domino, which makes the time horizon stretch out even more.
I hate to be a spoil sport, but does anyone really think Fitzpatrick will go after Obama with the same zeal he did Scooter Libby, Bush and Cheney?

I guess I don’t understand why Rezko would rat on Obama now. What does he have to gain. Obviously, they are offering him a shorter sentence but he might not live long enough to serve time anyway! This is Chicago we’re talking about and Presidential politics- could the stakes be any higher?
Would be nice to see... but I won’t believe it until I see with mine own two eyes the chosen “one” wearing nickle-plated hardware, doing a perp-walk to jail.

Well we can hope, but personally, I betting that Scooter Libby ends up getting indicted again. I mean why not...It would make just as much sense as last time.
Wow, this could be big. But if Obama wins the election, this could go the way of the Whitewater Scandal.
