Group's Ad Blames Crisis on Democrats

WASHINGTON -- A conservative political organization will begin airing nationwide TV advertisements Wednesday that criticize congressional Democrats for their ties to mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, an early example of what will likely be a flood of spots running up to Election Day focused on the financial crisis.

The group sponsoring the $1 million advertising buy, the American Issues Project, is the same organization that spent nearly $3 million on a television campaign to tie Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama to former radical William Ayers.

Spending by such outside political organizations in the 2008 election hasn't matched the pace of 2004, when dozens of groups spent hundreds of millions of dollars. The ads from the American Issues Project are among the first by a conservative organization to blame Democrats for the financial crisis.

"Chris Dodd takes big money from Fannie and Freddie," a narrator says in the ad. "Dodd kills reform and secures a sweetheart mortgage for himself." The ad concludes: "Who should you trust on the economy?"

How do you get people to accept totalitarianism? You scare them to death and promise that their salvation comes from their kind, caring, beneficent government.

Game over.

Damn right. We need to take plenty of rope, tar, and torches. And keep your powder dry, because we'll probably need an armed revolution too.

Republicans are being attacked everywhere by Democrats, so conservatives should be fighting on every front, meeting the Democrats before they fire on us. Did you see the Drudge Story? Obama didn’t think his message got out during the debate (formulaic as it is) and he’s buying up prime air time on all the networks. Ain’t it great that McCain is using public financing for his campaign? A real masterstroke. Conservative groups are just about all we have left to take on the enemy.

Saw that ad a few hours ago on Fox. This should not be an ad, it should be hard news. Our economy is in the tank and we have testimony of many who prevented efforts years ago to prevent the current problems. If the Republicans had did this no question it would be the on front page or the lead news story for weeks.

True, but since the MSM won’t report on it, at least we can support those who will!

Maybe. But there are plenty of people who still should be more *motivated* to get out there and vote against Obambi by voting for McCain.

I hope you’re not suggesting that an Obambi administration poses no threat to this nation that should concern Americans and the world.
