Pregnancy Centers Could Face National Attack if Barack Obama Wins
Life News ^ | October 9, 2008 | Steven Ertelt

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Pregnancy centers across the country that provide women with abortion alternatives could be shut down or face severe regulations if Barack Obama wins next month. That's because a bill targeting pregnancy centers could easily be approved in a pro-abortion Congress and land on Obama's desk.

Obama has already promised pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL that he will be their lap dog in the White House and these are the groups leading the effort to pass the bill.

Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey reintroduced the bill in April in the Senate and issued a statement alleging that pregnancy centers mislead women by giving them information on abortion's risks and alternatives.

The so-called "Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Services Act" would place burdensome regulations on pregnancy centers.

It would also force the Federal Trade Commission to create and enforce rules to prohibit deceptive practices that pregnancy centers say they never use to reach women -- such as advertising under the "abortion services" section of the phone book.

Melinda Delahoyde, the president of Care Net, a network of about 1,000 pregnancy centers from across the country, talked about the attacks in a recent interview with CBN News.

"This is not unexpected, when you're coming against abortion in America, and the hurt and the pain and the lives lost, the lives destroyed through that - there always going to be oppositions," Delahoyde said.

One leading pro-abortion group, the Feminists Majority Network, has reportedly hired a full-time staff member whose sole job is to launch attacks on pregnancy centers and dig up dirt on them for use in legislation.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a New York congresswoman, introduced the House version of the attack bill last summer.

In previous comments about her bill she claimed some pregnancy centers "take a more underhanded approach to lure in women seeking abortions by using tactics that should be illegal."

Kristin Hansen, a Care Net representative, previously spoke with LifeNews.com about older versions of this bill, which have never moved past their introduction.

“What's clear in these attacks is that the multi-million dollar abortion industry is growing increasingly frustrated with the success of pregnancy centers, which, unlike abortion providers, offer a wide range of free services to men and women facing unplanned pregnancy and sexual health-related concerns," Hansen said.

While the bill has not ever been voted on in either the House or Senate, abortion advocates, who are expected to see their numbers increase after the elections, could find themselves emboldened by an Obama presidency and push for the bill harder than they have before.

Interesting how Democrats want to take away the information that might make a woman CHOOSE LIFE.

And yet they bristle at being called “pro-abortion.”

Whatever else President Bush has done, right or wrong, the pro-life issue is one that he deserves our prayers and gratitude on.

There are alot of similarities between Barak and Eliot Spitzer- this being one of them.

Barak likes to make fun of older guys too.
In Eliot’s case I bet it’s linked to his rich daddy.

They would need to line up victims to testify.

...advertising under the "abortion services" section of the phone book.

I've seen a reasonable answer to that "problem", some yellow pages have a heading called 'Abortion Alternatives', which conveniently comes in alphabetical order before 'Abortion Providers'.

My friends in Miami were right: never trust a Cuban whose family came here before 1959 (the great Desi Arnaz and Bibi Rebozo excluded).

"If they just took girls out of school without telling their parents, it would be OK," Rep. Maloney added. /sarcasm

America will be stunned at what will pass with the next presidency. No one will believe what’s waiting in the wings of the legislative body. With a left-leaning congress and president, the attempt to pass the bills is almost certain. It’s time for the adults on both sides of the aisle to watch the children and protect those who try to warn us. It’s time America. Actually, it’s been time for a great while, but now it’s be vocal or it’s over.

If Pro-Lifers **really** care about the unborn then they will **do** the following:

1) Armies of volunteers will comb through voter registrations and **vigorously** challenge **all** suspicious voter registrations. Demonstrate before the homes of any government worker who frustrates this effort.

2) Prior to election day, notify all poll workers that any suspicious voter fraud will result in the names and faces of associated workers being widely publicized throughout the media and Internet. Organize media well before election day.

3) On election day armies of pro-life volunteers will **aggressively** poll watch. They will be prepared to video all suspicious poll workers and voter and publicize their names and faces on blogs, message boards, and other media.

3) On election day battalions of pro-life attorneys will be ready and fully prepared to vigorously challenge all suspect voter fraud.

4) After the election, **seriously** lobby to have **all* suspected voter fraud investigated, prosecuted, and fully punished to the maximum.

The polls show that the swing states are very close. The Death Eaters of the Democratic Party will do everything possible to steal this election.

What they don’t like about the pregnancy centers is that those centers actually tell the women that PP is lying to them when PP says “it’s not a baby”.

This does not bode well, and it is obvious evidence of EVIL.

Husband is already doing the “poll watching” for our family. I can't take off from work, as I work for very liberal firm.

Already volunteered at phone banks, rally at T.J. Hughes. Praying incessantly. I think we've done all we can.

No, I do not have links.

But...Hopefully, those Freepers who are active in these organizations will alert their leadership.

It seems to me that if these organizations really care about their issue they would organize their members to control voter fraud. They have the infrastructure already in place. A little direction on the part of these leaders could get a lot of work done. I see no reason to start from scratch.
