AUSTIN – In a significant shift in party support from four years ago, monthly churchgoers are backing Democrat Barack Obama in this year’s presidential race, according to a new poll.

Mr. Obama, who has tried to tap faith-based voters, has the support 60 percent of Americans who attend religious services once or twice a month, according to the survey for the nonpartisan group Faith in Public Life. Also Online

Evangelical right slow to support McCain

Democrat John Kerry lost that group in 2004.

At the same time, Mr. Obama has made little headway among the most active churchgoers, especially white evangelical Protestants who were key to President Bush’s re-election four years ago.

The survey found examples of a generational divide between younger and older evangelicals — but not on their presidential pick.

According the poll, 68 percent of white evangelicals support the Arizona Republican and 25 percent back Mr. Obama. Among those between the ages of 18 and 35, Mr. McCain has 65 percent and Mr. Obama 29 percent.

The other religious groups that support Obama must be Satanic ones.

Americans are being frighteningly naive about Senator Obama, never seeming to question that the puppeteers who have programmed and introduced him onto the American stage have a plan for this nation that does not coincide with the ideals of the Declaration and United States Constitution.

The liberty of millions yet unborn hangs in the balance in this election, and between now and Election Day, someone needs to expose those who control Obama's agenda.

Which “religions” support infanticide? Can’t be much of a “religion” if you ask me.

So only evangelicals don’t support the Anti-Christ. Just what I would have expected.

Evangelicals and Catholics are for McCain. Those are the two really large groups of Americans.

Another bull butter poll. Young or old I have serious doubts a majority of Catholics, Protestants or Evangelicals are supporting Zero.

I wonder why they didn’t poll Muslims? I have doubts the numbers are as strong among the various denominations for gay marriage as this article claims. I would say the leader of Sodom was a pretty tolerant fellow too.

Monthly churchgoers? What the heck is that? Sounds like a euphemism for "not seriously religious people."

I'll bet the numbers didn't look so good if they polled weekly churchgoers so they had to add some special sauce.

And for those psuedo-church goers that you all know, please show them this video. I know it is from the Catholics, but it still hits hard with people that have any faith.

In a significant shift in party support from four years ago, monthly churchgoers are backing Democrat Barack Obama in this year’s presidential race

I wonder what swayed them? Obama's pro-partial birth abortion votes? Or perhaps seeing his longtime preacher yell "G-Damn America"? Or could it be Obama's numerous associations with terrorists, Muslim and otherwise?

****

But I thought all those environmentally aware, socially conscious and all around hip younger evangelicals were crowding onboard the Hussein Change Train.
