“But the lawyer argued his client should not die for his crimes.”

Translates as “the SOB still owes me money”.

If the death penalty was ever appropriate for anyone it’s this turkey and hopefully this sleazy lawyer won’t make a dime from this.

At least he is honest. With CA death penalty cases however he will live to be 100 on the tax payer dime.

This was so horrible. I can’t imagine how it flet to be tied to an anchor and thrown overboard...alive. This case has been going on for years and if this guy isn’t snuffed...along with his buddies, there is no justice.

This double murder was clearly premeditated and the low-life murderer should get the death penalty. California needs to crank up the number of death penalties actually carried out; they are slow to administer justice. It’s not fair to the victims’ families to drag it out so long.

Isn't it amazing that in California it takes 25 yeas to execute someone. But the Feds can do it in a matter of weeks. Tim McVeigh

I agree that the death penalty is not appropriate for his perp. Cement boots and a trip to the 5 mile depth where those cute fish reside, (earlier thread) and he can fulfill their need for detris!!!

There’s a lesson here.

If you plan on going out on the high seas with people you don’t know real well, much less outnumbered 3 men to you and your wife, uh.....don’t do it.

In fact, as soon as you see them coming towards your boat, even if it’s in the harbor......get off it and make some noise.

Don’t trust anyone. Tom Hawks made a fatal error in allowing these creeps on the boat and it cost him and his wife their lives.

As I always say, nobody ties me up and nobody catches me by surprise. At least not going out on a boat with some men I don’t know real well.......No way.

"Tom and Jackie Hawkins, who were thrown off their yacht and bound to an anchor."

Shouldn't that have been: Tom and Jackie Hawkins were bound to an anchor and then thrown off their yacht...

It would be hard to tie them to an anchor AFTER they've thrown of the yacht!!!

Journalism schools are the pits.

Skylar Deleon, who played as an extra on 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers', has tried to saw off his penis with a razor blade.

Skylar Deleon, 29, who is facing trial after allegedly murdering a couple at sea to steal their yacht, has been hospitalized after trying to cut off his own penis in a mental ward.

According to Dlisted, the Orange County Sheriff's department tells the LA Times:

"Somehow he got a hold of a razor blade and tried to saw off his penis, but didn't complete the job."

"We do know there was a lot of blood and it was quite a scene. But from what I know, he didn't finish his task, and maybe it was too painful and that made him stop."

Their son set up a guestbook.

Tru TV has a story line for the case:

So sad. I hope Deleon gets the death penalty, although it’s too good for him.

Their name was Hawks, not Hawkins. That was a typo in the article.
