October 6, 2008 If youre one of those people who shows-off at parties by solving a Rubiks Cube in under two minutes, the Rubiks Mirror Blocks Puzzle might just stop you in your tracks. Also known as Hidetoshi Takeji's Bump Cube, the puzzle challenges its user based on geometry rather than by matching color sequences.
To solve the Bump Cube you must order 27 blocks of nine different sizes into a neat and tidy cube. Unlike the original Rubiks Cube, you cant just pull the stickers off this one and pretend youre a genius (or pull the entire thing apart as some frustrated Rubik's tragics have been known to do) as all the stickers have the same mirrored silver.
The YouTube YouTube clip below shows how it works How It Works .
Available in Japan, Hidetoshi Takeji's Bump Cube costs around USD$20.

I figured out the Rubik’s cube quite quickly. You take off the plastic panel in the middle cube and under it is a Philips screw, take it apart and put it together right.
Is there another way...
None that I’m aware of. ;-)
Rubiks Mirror Blocks Puzzle aka Hidetoshi Takeji's Bump Cube
Like anything else, the Rubic’s Cube is pretty easy once you learn how to do it. The 5x5x5 version is a lot more interesting.
LOL! My dad used to disappear with the Rubik's Cube and come back later with it solved. He's an engineer, but w/o witnessing him actually solving it, I had my doubts. However, once you learn the tricks, it could easily be solved in less than 2 minutes. I never did solve Rubik's Revenge though.
Yeah the other way is to rotate a side half way to the next side, then wiggle off a top corner piece that sticks out. The first one takes a bit of pressure, then the rest just slide right out.
It’s only easy if either you’re a genius (figuring it out on your own) or good at patterns.
I learned how to do it with a book, and then kept playing with it until I could FLY like the wind! The author of the book said his fastest time was only 3:00!
After I memorized all the patterns I got down to 22 seconds for my fastest and usually averaged around 45 seconds. Not as fast as they do it now, but I was happy with it.
I can still break 60 seconds 80-90% with a couple of hours of practice.
If you can solve one, you can solve the other. If you're a sticker mover, you're not really solving it, and you're stickers will fall off for good soon enough.
LOL I'd just take it apart and put it back together. It was actually faster than doing all that twisting.
Silly.
1) Rotate the top 1/2 a turn.
2) Put your thumb under the middle piece in the 1/2 rotated section and pry it up.
3) You can then take all of the pieces out and replace them in any order.
4) Put back in the last piece just as you pried it out.
It is fun to leave just one piece out of order so that the puzzle cannot be solved. GRIN
