How big, still, is Sarah Palin among the GOP base?
Her rally in Pensacola Tuesday had to be moved from an airport hangar to the local civic center to accomodate the crowd. The civic center seats 10,000.
It's this kind of enthusiasm, not to mention antipathy toward Obama, that will ensure Republicans come out in droves in red bulwarks like the Florida panhandle. Such turnout is key as it helps the GOP pile up large margins to offset more Democratic-leaning parts of the state.
ALSO: Palin's Ft. Myers-area rally tomorrow had to be moved to a sports arena because of the anticipated crowd
Does anyone remember GWB’s crowds in 04? And where they this large?
I can recall GWb flying into a stadium, but not drawing tens of thousands of people night after night.
Dang! We were in the Pensacola area until this past Saturday! I’d have loved to have seen her in person!
no they weren't as large. i haven't seen a political power like sarah palin since ronald reagan. we are witnessing a political supernova.
We are witnessing a Breath of Fresh Alaskan Air! America is beginning to fall in love with this woman and Her Walton family.
Pray for W, Palin/McCain and Our Troops
I think you are right, GWB seemed to tour alot of military installations and smaller venues.
Go Governor Palin GO!
I asked in a post about 8 weeks ago who was McCain’s base and who was going to turn out the vote for him on election day. Turns out, he had the answer all along - Palin.
CHECK THIS OUT. This is the stuff of legends- She told CBS, she went to Omaha on HER OWN SAY-SO:
Palin quote: “The pundits today on TVone of them was saying, check out the vice presidents schedule, check out where shes going shes going to Nebraska, Palin said.
But the pundit was saying the only reason shed be going there is cause theyre scared, so they gotta go there and shore up votes. AND I SO WANTED TO REACH INTO THAT TV AND SAY NO, I’M GOING TO NEBRESKA BECAUSE I WANT TO GO O NEBRESKA.
“And you can ask and probably the reporters will ask the top dogs in our campaign why am I in Nebraska, and its truly because I asked to come to the heartland of America today, she said

They said she was out of her league- heck, she’s in a league of her own. LOL
“They said she was out of her league- heck, shes in a league of her own.”
That’s a great line. May I use it?

It is a great line..........I like Palin, she kills her own snakes. She’s not one of the corrupt filthy Beltway professionals...how refreshing.
I trust either the organizers at the gates going in or out, or the speakers there, or even Sarah Palin herself, are making that "in your face" appeal to ALL attendees at these rallies. An incredible momentum can be built.
If Sarah Palin can explain complicated things like the economy to the American people in language and analogies that they understand, then she will have inherited the mantle of President Reagan as the great communicator.
I am yearning for a speech by Palin that headlines a problem like energy independence and sets forth a step by step formula for addressing the issue. Step (1) identify all possible methods for developing domestic energy; (2) assess feasibility and where we are in development; (3) do a cost benefit analysis on each method; (4) get the American people to force their representatives to cooperate and be accountable for solutions; (5) select most likely short term and long term methods in which to apply resources or create policies to encourage development; (6) encourage R&D on additional promising solutions; (7) develop incentives/subsidies for use of new technologies until prices reach a self-sustaining level.
Sometimes leadership is not only articulating and selling a vision, it is showing people how to get there.
It would be 10 x better than Ross Perot’s flipcharts, too!! ;-)
I have been in at least five GWB rallies on the last month of 2004 season. 3,000 to 5,000. Never seen anything quite the crowd that Sarah attracts. I was at Home Depot Center last Saturday. The tennis stadium seats 8,000. The floor/stage area was jampacked. Then there were people standing about three-deep along the top-deck railings. There were people just basically standing and watching from stairs The crowd easily topped 20,000. (BTW, I know a little bit about head-counting).
Sarah is definitely a phenomenon in American politics.

How about Obama openly campaigning for his communist cousin Odinga who signed a pact with Muslims to enact Sharia Law if elected and started riots when he lost. Obama campaigned for an openly Anti-American candidate in a foreign country in 2006.
This should motivate the base, to our ideologically pure conservative friends: Would you actually let this man become POTUS?
As a Canadian, I was a real fan of President Reagan, deeply saddened when he was afflicted with Altzheimer’s, and even more saddened when he died. I collected a lot of material on my PC of his wonderful witticisms, and his direct to-the-people speak, his humour, his caring, his good common sense, and his absolute sense of right and wrong, and belief of rolling up his sleeves and getting the job done. Just the fact that he always wore his jacket in the Oval Office because of his deep respect of the office and the nation, speaks volumes for him.
I see that spirit of goodness in Sarah too. A truly wonderful person, who would be a great Vice-President - and President of the country she so obviously loves and respects. It’s heartening to read that Michael Reagan thinks she is cut from the same cloth as his dad.
Great to see this perspective from Canada.
Of course you may use my line- heck, I have plenty to spare. LOL, LOL
Personally, I think -we win because, we have sarah and they don’t— has more resonance and I’d hope that might catch on-—but no matter. Anything to see her win, right. -:)
Thanks, Vin
