"I find her offensive" (S. Fl Jews toward Palin)(Barf Alert)
Salon ^ | 10/5/2008 | Tristram Korten

The local retirement community known as Century Village is just one outpost in a statewide network of Century Villages, Florida's largest chain of retirement complexes. It is also a time capsule of the New York Jewish gestalt, circa 1965, transplanted intact to the golf greens of Palm Beach County. If a small, unscientific sampling of the shoppers in the Hamptons Plaza mall, directly across from the complex, is any indication, John McCain's choice of running mates may have pushed the residents of this heavily Democratic enclave back in Barack Obama's direction.

"I was leaning towards McCain," growled Marvin Weinstein, 74, as he strode to an appointment in a doctor's office. "But I think his choice of her has turned me off."

"What I hear is she's an awful anti-Semite," George Friedberg said as he sat curbside in his Escalade. "She won't be getting my vote." Friedberg's wife, Florence, appeared at the passenger-side door, shopping bags in hand. "I was leaning towards McCain, but after he selected her I've ruled him out completely. I find her offensive."

Considering she had an Israeli flag in her office, the claim of awful antisemitism is idiotic, at best.

oh, yeah.

These people were leaning toward McCain, like I'm the king of Siam.

Ahhh, go ahead and keep chewing your soup.

Have no fear of George Friedberg... she’ll probably push McCain/Palin on the touch screen because she’s too jaded to realize her actions... a-la 2000’s iteration where a simple hole punch was too hard.

Gee, I wonder where he heard that? His Liberal son/daughter?

I’m not at all surprised to read these comments. They sound just like Ed Koch. Anybody who is unabashedly Christian is an anathema to many Jews. Still, I expect McCain to take a few more Jewish votes in FL than Bush did in ‘00 and ‘04.

Oh, I'm an idiot?

Hitler didn't take the Chancellory by force, he took it by votes. The votes of people who thought he was just another politician. Obama is supported by the same people who are blowing up S'barro pizza joints in Israel and Marvin Weinberg isn't going to vote for McCain because he believes Governor Palin is an anti-Semite? To Hell with him and all those like him!

They should listen to Obama’s Reverand. Talk about anti-Semites.

I made the mistake of trying to have a discussion about the elections with my in-laws. Oy yoy yoy!

"What do you know, Mr. Expert?"

When they have an idea in their head, it ain't going to change. They will wallow in their own ignorance.

Probably something to do with Todd’s “Alaska Independence Party” days.

Its amazing the conspiratorial trash that even otherwise smart people believe. In 1944, there was a rumor passed around in NYC in Jewish neighborhoods via the Democratic machine that Dewey was going to round up the Jews and ship them to concentration camps if he were elected over FDR.

Almost as ridiculous as nominating Dewey twice, but you get the point.

"Any Jew who votes for Obama deserves a trip to the oven."

I cannot believe you said that! You should probably toddle along to Stormfront. It's right next door the daily Koz. Go already.
