John McCain Better for All Americans, Not Just Gays
Gay Wired ^ | 10/05/2008 | B. Daniel Blatt

The private sector responds far more quickly to social change than do governments at whatever level. That’s why, I believe, a party which seeks to free that sector from excessive government interference, in the form of high taxation and unreasonable regulation, is better for gay people. And it’s why John McCain and Sarah Palin represent the better choice in this election.

To be sure, there are areas where the federal government should take action on behalf of gay people, notably to recognize same-sex unions and to repeal discriminatory legislation, notably the military’s Don’t Ask/Don’t Tell Policy (DADT). On this one issue, Barack Obama appears better for gay people than does McCain, having once said he would work to repeal the law if elected president but now appears to be backtracking on that commitment (as he has reversed himself on so many other issues).

McCain, on the other hand, while favoring DADT, says he is willing to reconsider his opinion should military commanders favor repeal: “I’m willing to have the policy reviewed to make sure that’s the case, but at the end of the day, I’m going to rely on the commanders who will be impacted by a change in the law.” As an increasing number of the military brass favor repeal of the ban, including John M. Shalikashvili, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, it is becoming increasingly clear the ban serves little military purpose.

An ideology which seeks to wage Jihad against gay people would hold sway in an increasing number of nations. We could see executions of gay people across the Middle East as we are now seeing in Iran.

The greatest threat to gay people does not come from social conservatives in the United States but from religious fascists in Islamic lands. Here, they seek to prevent state governments from recognizing our unions. There, they seek to deprive our fellows of their lives.

Please read the whole article. This is a gay person who is thinking far beyond what is good only for him (if only women and other groups would do the same). Here is someone who seems to truly care about gays worldwide and know which party will be better for them in the big picture.

Considering that, as Gov. Palin pointed out in Thursday’s debate, both campaigns’ positions on homosexual marriage are the same, this would seem to make some sense for the gay community.

PS...don’t tell Sullivan.

Yea...time to think again liberal, Gays and Lesbians....a Muslim President, Me thinkith you do not want!

Exactly right on the point of islamic fascism.

Not only that, but it’s clear that Obama isn’t fond of gay rights based on his associations. Sure, he’ll push the leftist agenda on the matter, but he’ll do so to maintain their support (useful idiots, iow), not because he really cares about the issue. I can see him cursing gays under his breath while publicly supporting whatever issue the activists are supporting. There is a huge problem with REAL homophobia (beatings, fights, etc) in the black community.

B. Daniel Blatt, a writer based in Los Angeles, is completing a Ph.D in Mythological Studies and blogs at GayPatriot.net.

Gay Patriot
"...the Internet home for the American gay conservative"

I have to ask: does that make him a gaytriot? :)

gaytriot.com is available

What 2 or more people choose to do in private is none of my or the government's business. I may not agree with the gay lifestyle, but I certainly do not hate gay people.

Islamic extremists do hate gay people.

In the name of "tolerance" an "diversity", the Left would say to the gay community that they have to "understand" why Islamic extremists hate them and want to kill them. That "understanding" will only make for more bombings and murders.

The tent should be big enough for gay or straight. After all, we are all Americans - a fact for which terrorists would kill us all.

I have no problem, and welcome him if he wants to be a Freeper. The Leftist media has many people believe that conservatives hate gay people. That’s not true. Yes, we don’t approve their behavior, but we also realize as long as it’s done in their bedroom, it’s their problem and there’s not much we can do. We do have problem when they start to push around their view on marriage, etc., and basically demand that we change our own religious teachings to accommodate them.

I wouldn't be surprised if he already is.

Don't look at me! My abs haven't been gay-worthy in a long time.

Well said. I am for American, I am for John McCain, I am for Freedom.

I am not for the One who would come in the name of Freedom by giving his speeches in the garment of a sheep and devour our freedom as a wolf, when he is elected.

The Lord Jesus Christ warned His followers, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves (Matt. 7:15). The warning was important because Jesus later said to them: “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; therefore be shrewd as serpents, and innocent as doves” (Matt. 10:16).

Despite the disapproval of a gay lifestyle, conservative Christians would never want this done to gays, while Obama choses to pally around with a man who is on a mission to exterminate gays from his country.
