Polls are truly worthless. Pollsters can get whatever result they want by adjusting their samples to reflect their view of the electorate, or, if one is more jaded, their desired outcome.

The following is an email I sent to Bret at Weekend Live on Fox news:

“I would like someone to explain to me the difference between Ayers and Charles Manson. Please bear with me- it’s not far-fetched.

Ayers and Manson both headed groups that killed innocent people, although Manson didn’t actually commit violence himself, but Ayers DID. Is that difference simply that Ayers group killed cops and Manson’s killed “beloved” members of the celebrity community? Manson did not, himself, actually do any physical harm, yet Ayers, himself, planted bombs that severely hurt quite a few people, including a young airman. Well, if the difference is that Ayers “only” hurt government workers and cops, as the wife of a cop, I’m not buying it.

“Out here” we must be responsible for our actions and our associations- “you lie down with dogs, you get fleas”, and all that. I see NO reason why Obama shouldn’t be held to the same account.

Manson will never get out of prison and Ayers has never served a single day. People say Manson is mad because of his “crazy rants”, Yet Ayers gains a university teaching job and a interviews with the mainstream press where he makes HIS crazy rants.

I hope you will understand why I just don’t see the difference between them.”

I WANT someone to explain WHY WHY WHY Ayers walks the streets, poisoning the minds of our children in a classroom and is viewed, somehow, as a politically savvy operative. I WANT to know WHY this man isn’t in prison. If a person can be sent to prison for the REST of his life for what his followers did and STAY there because of his percieved craziness- then WHY isn’t Ayers in the next cell??!!

In 2004, turnout in Ohio was 38% Dems, 37% Repub and 24% Ind. This poll is using 43% D, 37%R and 16% I.

So Dems are overstated, Republicans are the correct proportion and Independents are understated. That would indicate that McCain is in somewhat better shape than shown, assuming that Independents will break for McCain in larger percentages than Democrats -- which I think is certain.

While I am not Bret, here is the reason:

Manson=poor drifter
Ayers=son of conencted leftist attorney with money

I understand your feelings and the thought process behind them. If we ever had a truly *classless* society such as the left pretends to prefer (HA!), Ayers would get the treatment Manson got. We don’t. Even if we do, members of the Party will continue to get preferential treatment. Some are more equal.

Distill your email down to 2 lines, if you want it read on air. They tell viewers this is the key when they solicit email.

The fact that your post gets 5 replies inside of an hour and the other “noteworthy” poll taken in Ohio gets dozens more speaks volumes about where FR is headed at the moment and the kids of people posting here as well as starting the threads in question.

I actually don’t care if it gets read on the air. All I want is for someone to start asking this question. More than that, I wish for the voters to THINK about what it means to elect a person of Obama’s ilk. I want them to consider the associations this man has made in his nasty Chicago-style (gangland!) climb to the top.

This AIN’T no “messiah”- he’s just another little street thug. And he hangs with OTHER thugs.

This poll proves McCain is not down by 8 nationally.

Yup. It is like some here embrace bad news. When two polls come out over the same period, why does everyone embrace the negative one?

“Ayers and Manson both headed groups that killed innocent people”

I just responded to this in another thread. How many people have you sent this to? Do your homework, the Weather Underground never actually killed anyone. They put bombs in buildings, but no one was killed or even injured.

People aren’t going to take this seriously if we can’t get our facts straight.

Exactly what I was thinking. ACORN has been busy planting those thousands of (dead and alive) nuts, and unfortunately, they will all be counted on election day. Ohio is gone!

Not true Mr. “Know it all”. The weather Underground killed two cops, but it seems Ayers wasn’t involved with that one. And I sent this to half a dozen websites and a couple of threads on two of them. I’ll send it to yer freakin’ aunt if I choose to. I don’t much care for “stealths”, so bug off.

WTH is a “stealth”?

Ayers had, in fact, already turned himself into authorities when those two cops were killed. You can do what you want, but sending our erroneous claims doesn’t really help OUR cause. It just provides more opportunity to make conservatives look like they are uninformed and out of touch.

If that’s what you’re trying to accomplish, then you’re doin’ great.
