DOVER, Del., Oct 3 (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden bid a safe farewell on Friday to 112 "citizen soldiers" headed to Iraq, including his son, and told them "thank you for answering the call of your country."
"God bless you and may He protect you," Biden said a day after his debate with his Republican rival Sarah Palin, who as Alaska's governor saluted her 20-year-old son off to war last month.
In brief remarks at a departure ceremony outside the Delaware state capitol, Biden made no mention of his showdown in St. Louis with Palin.

We all need to take a pause from the election and appreciate Biden for supporting his son, and of course appreciate his son for his duty as we do every one of our brave soldiers.

We always have. In the JAG he could be doing any of dozens of duties, but given that he's an AG he's probably a prosecutor. They are a very necessary component of good order in the Army.
I believe his son is Chairborne.
Even if he is a lawyer, I hope he and his colleagues all return safely.

Anyone who raises a kid who signs up to serve in uniform is okay by me. I’ll disagree with Biden all day long, but I’m glad to see he raised a son with American values. That’s rare on the left these days.

Why is he being sent to Iraq???!!!! He should be sent to Afganistan—strike that—send him directly to western Pakistan and get him bombing those villages!

Dude he is a lawyer and since he is on a unit staff, he is the commander’s lawyer for legal issues with soldiers.

oh, and of course lawyers are needed in FAO. They are a force multiplier and essential to any combat situation.
My thoughts were always, "hmmmm should I put SAW on overwatch on the right flank or....nah... bring up the lawyers and have them provide cover fire on the right........." or............" Screw it, I'm going to go ahead and commit all my lawyers to protect that flank!! Maybe, just maybe Columbia and Harvard can provide us with replacements... we just have too much at stake, so we just have to commit our best at this time."
I can hear them at SOCOM..."get that briefing ready and the sat imaging so that our lawyers know what they're getting into over there. I don't want them busting in there holding their #ocks while all hell breaks loose. All kidding aside. I know that pay outs to chieftains and tribal leaders, good order and discipline, dealing with local authorities and making agreements are important functions of JAG.... Anybody and everybody is a target that is over there. Mortars and IEDs are a general delivery system with no names, so may God protect him and all that are over there.
