WASHINGTON -- Krauthammer's Hail Mary Rule: You get only two per game. John McCain, unfortunately, has already thrown three. The first was his bet on the surge, a deep pass to David Petraeus who miraculously ran it all the way into the end zone.
Then, seeking a game-changer after the Democratic convention, McCain threw blind into the end zone to a waiting Sarah Palin. She caught the ball. Her subsequent fumbles have taken the sheen off of that play, but she nonetheless invaluably solidifies his Republican base.

sadly I think Kraut is disgruntle romneybot.
AU's Rule: This election year, ALL 'CONVENTIONAL' RULES GO TO THE ASH HEAP!
Well if McCain dosent arrest the momentum shift soon it will be too late, all Bambi has to do is look acceptable... I hate Bambi as much as everyone else but i wont bury my head and say its ok...

Sounds like the Kraut man doesn’t know a lot about football.
Krout does not get it. Sarah is a vampire killer. She drove a stake in to the heart of the Piranas in the media. She did not just win the debate> She won the ELECTION. If McClame can capitalize on it. It was a 10.
Actually this article is "spot off". Krauthammer is showing his "I spend all my time in Washington" and is miscalculating how middle America and Joe Six pack thinks.
He is a pycho lawer who tends to analyze based on ingrained professional bias that is within the beltline oriented.
His hailmary metaphor is misplaced. He confuses luck with reasoned results
The writer gives Obama or his handlers far too much credit for strategic thinking.
His convention speach had nothing to do with the long term approach to non-liberals, but more to do with the effectivenss of of McCain’s definining of him as just a celebrity/rock star candidate. Obams kept the Acropolis stage.
Nor did Obama have anyting to do with the mad hatters’s panic regarding the financial crisis. Obama was voting present.
Palin threw the 4th Hail Mary lst night. It was caught in the end zone, and the media couldn’t do anything about it, beecause it was a live event with bo editing!
McCain will probably win PA,MN,NH, ME-CD2 which would give him +35 from 2004. He will probably lose IA and NM. -12 from 2004.
I have McCain at 319, Obama 219.
I thought you only got 1 Hail Mary.
The Reagan analogy fails for several reasons. The biggest is that Reagan was a gentleman and a patriot who loved his country, and the more people got to know him, the more they loved him.
0bama in contrast is a thug who despises his country, and people dislike him the more they get to know him. The MSM has punted on showing the people 0bama's true colors, so it falls to the GOP to do it. The campaign must go relentlessly negative and expose 0bama to the light of truth.
Gov. Palin's excellent debate has given them energy and momentum, and now is the time for them to go for the jugular.
Well I hope all you guys are right, will gladly eat crow for a month if so...
I like mine with a little salt and hot sauce :)

I though he was a psychiatrist.
Yep. You have to bypass the stinking gloomy media swamp and go to the people. Like Reagan. McClame has some kind of hallucination that he can reach out to these Banshees.
Actually, he's a psycho doctor - that is, a Harvard Med School psychiatrist.
Yes, its like CK is saying McCain should lay down and accept the inevitable.
LIKE HELL I SAY!!
SCREW THAT COMMIE BAST@RD O'BARNUM
“Sadly i think this is a pretty spot on article...”
Sadly I agree, but for another reason.
Is it not worrying that all someone has to do, to become the single most powerful person on the planet, is to be steady, uncontroversial, ordinary to the point of blandness and not “rock the boat”? In a multiracial, multicultural, multiethnic and pluralistic democracy like the US, a politician pretty much has to be “all things to all men”, but that also inevitably means that he must either be someone with no convictions at all (other than self-belief) or lying his teeth out to most people he is talking to.
Depends on what you did. Heck, I've gotten 10 Hail Marys and 10 Our Fathers many times.
