Correct, but I insist they use his name anyhow, just to tweak the noses of those ****s in command, the the Gov.
By submitting to the order that Jesus’ name not be used, in my mind, it’s like a denial not only of Christ, but of Christianity itself.

If Virginia state troopers are invoking any deity on the job it is the Patron Deity of tax collectors.

Yes, you are misunderstanding it. Stuartcr had mentioned a similar policy being in effect with the military. I was responding about military chaplains...since I was one not terribly long ago.

He was talking about military chaplins...the post was about Va. state police chaplins not being able by regulation being able to pray in Jesus name!
To: theDentist
The power of Jesus is immeasurable. Virginia’s fear of His Holy name is testimony to that fact. More hearts will be won over to Christ as are result this denial by Virginia’s cowards.

Yes, I was responding about military chaplains.
This thread is about police chaplains praying in Jesus’ name. It has obvious connections to recent military issues that are similar.
The answers to the problem exactly parallel those in the military.
One of the chaplains needs to challenge in court any dismissal.

So I would instead say “... in the Name of Your most Holy and Blessed and Risen Son, amen.”
To: TPOOH
Six chaplains have already resigned over the issue. Ping to read later

A little more information in this thread,
Five Chaplains Lose Jobs for Praying 'In Jesus Name'.
"Virginia Governor Tim Kaine is defending why his administration forced the sudden resignation of five Virginia State Police Chaplains because they prayed publicly in Jesus name. Police Superintendent Col. W. Steven Flaherty single-handedly created then enforced a strict non-sectarian prayer policy at all public gatherings, censoring and excluding Christian prayers, then accepted the resignation of five chaplains who refused to deny Jesus or violate their conscience by watering down their prayers. "......

Kaine and Flaherty are involved in creating a religion and then requiring adherence to it.
These chaplains should challenge this in court.
It would have been better for them altogether to cancel chaplains assisting police than for them to create this wishy-washy religion that engages in non-specific prayers. That religion exists in only one place, and that is in the enforcement policy of Virginia. It is a state religion that they came up with.

Thanks for the update. It was a big issue not too long ago around the Norfolk area.

Yes, that does give more information. I hesitate to go into any more detailed discussion, because that might give the impression that I consider the officials’ position to have some legitimacy, which I don’t. As you mentioned in your earlier post, we have a variety of religions in the United States. If someone is ... er, officiating ... in some belief system that’s not the same as yours, just smile and think about NASCAR or something until it’s over.

Precisely. That is such a mature, responsible attitude, TC.
One point though: Isn't NASCAR a religion? :>)

Kaine and Flaherty are involved in creating a religion and then requiring adherence to it.
In a way, they are discriminating against one religion. Christianity. The belief in Jesus and his sacrifice IS Christianity. The Virginian State Police Chaplains need to band together and decide on a new word to use until it gets banned. How about start with "In our Saviour's Name". Prince of Peace, Messiah, Deliverer,.......and so on. Let the Chief/Governor deny each and every word that refers to Jesus. Then go to court.

They should use the name of Jesus and get fired for it.
Clear religious discrimination and a court worthy case.
