JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Our pastor's 18 year-old daughter "E" was shopping in our local WalMart last week. She has a McCain/Palin button and an Obama Scares Me button on her purse.

"E" noticed a woman who seemed to be very interested in her. "E" kept shopping and as some point this woman approached her and began harassing her about her buttons. "E" was told that it's very upsetting to see a young person not voting for Obama. "E" walked away but the woman followed her. As "E" was looking at a rack of clothes the woman "popped" through the other side and kept talking at her. "E" told her to get lost or she would report her to security.

This is what the 0bama goon squad has come to - harassing young women in WalMart. While I'm not young (though I am a woman), I have buttons on my purse and just dare one of them to approach me. . .I'm always up for a good chit chat. LOL

Prosecutors/police have great power... and all they have to do is ‘suggest’ or ‘hint’ to a citizen (or citizens) that he /she will be in ‘trouble’ if he/she exercises his/her constitutional right to campaign against Obama (or any other candidate) for the aforementioned prosecutor/police to have ‘threatened’ and or ‘intimidated’ said citizen(s) and therefore, deprived the citizen (s) of there constitutional right of political speech, under the constitution.

IT IS A CRIME WHEN THEY ( THE OFFICIALS) THREATEN OR INTIMIDATE: THEY DO NOT HAVE TO ARREST ANYONE OR TAKE “OVERT ACTION” TO BE IN VIOLATION OF SECTION 241 ( SEE SUMMERY AT TOP)

Such acts are NO different, in kind, than certain tactics of intimidation that were used in the south against black people in order to prevent them from voting etc.
