Officials are considering a proposal to explore for natural gas beneath land at Fort Wayne [Indiana] International Airport.

Fort Wayne-based geologist Chuck Knox approached officials with the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority several months ago about searching for natural gas and possibly oil, Executive Director Tory Richardson said Friday.

You go down a few thousand feet in the lower Midwest and you run into this incredibly huge mountain range with numerous overthrust belts. No doubt there are vast stores of hydrocarbons in the area.

Fort Worth Dallas Airport made a whopper of a deal on gas. They should never have to ask for support again and if they do; point this out.

I saw a story a while back about warehouses in Los Angeles that were built over old capped oil wells that were no longer comercially viable 40 years ago. The businesses had since left those buildings empty. With the price of oil and new pumping techniques they have opened them up and have pumps running inside the warehouses.

Shoot, I’ve got three acres in Ft. Wayne... I must just drop a well myself.

Course I might have to get past the zoning Nazis.

One of the most disturbing aspects of this whole energy thing, to me at least, is that the foes have made it impossible to even explore to find out where the energy is. Well over half the effort needed to bring energy to the market is in finding where it is. The drilling and pumping, etc. can wait for as long as necessary.

The whole process has been structured by law, fiat and the courts to keep us from getting even the relatively safe process of finding out what’s where so that we can plan accordingly.

You might want to see if you own the mineral rights on your property. Depending on the state, ownership of land does not necessarily include ownership of the mineral rights. In some states, the owner doesn’t even have the water rights on his property.

Not a bad idea. Dallas Ft Worth Airport in Oct of 06 signed a gas drilling agreement with Chesapeake Energy receiving a signing bonus of $181 Million and will receive 25% in royalty's. Not a bad deal.

I've written before that I can't wait until some red-state governor stands up and tells the Feds and everybody else that he (or she) is gonna fire up coal energy plants and what are you gonna do to stop us. What, will the feds send in the army to stop them?
