What is it with Democrats and their grotesque slurs upon the intelligence of their political rivals? Last week it was Charles Rangel calling Sarah Palin "disabled." Tonight on CNN, Paul Begala called President Bush a "high-functioning moron."
Begala was on an Anderson Cooper-led panel with Republican Ed Rollins and CNN's Gloria Borger to discuss the state of the possible federal financial bailout. Cooper took the first shot at the president, analogizing his performance in this crisis to that during Hurricane Katrina.
ANDERSON COOPER: Watching the president last night give that speech, it was like watching him in Jackson Square in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. I mean, he did not seem to be there.

Interesting assessment from one of my daughters (raised right, but had her mind polluted in college and grad school) who said “I thought that what the President said last night was the first time someone explained this situation clearly.”

We Texans are deeply embarrassed that this wizzened gnome comes from our state. Of course, every time he opens his piehole, sane people shudder, so it doesn’t really win the Dems any friends or votes.
However, someone really ought to wake up Ed Rollins every once in a while. It’s difficult to tell whether he is alive or dead when he doesn’t even respond to the vile slurs of Begala. Of course, that’s the way CNN likes their token “conservatives,” and I guess ol’ Ed needs the gig.
Mr. Begala should be reminded that President Bush outperformed Al Gore in college and graduate school and outscored John Kerry on the military’s intelligence tests, so he might want to check with them before slinging the insults.

I saw a reporterette on CNN say that she heard that the Republican representative in the discussions tonight was not authorized to really debate. She said she got that from Barney Frank and now every one is running with that like that is gold. Good Grief. The reporters today are like school children.

To comprehend the hysteria of the left, one must realize that their age-old standby’s (Social Security will be bankrupted, your mom and pop will be thrown in the street, etc.), none of those are working.
