Except, the MSM will twist it to say "BO is so important that the Prez had to call him in for advice on this financial crisis"!!!

You could interpret it that way. But if Obama tries that together with his "call me if you need me" statement, he looks very arrogant and condescending. The other side, of course, is that if he was doing his job and showing leadership, he would have come back to be part of the legislative meeting. He didn't and now that looks like a mistake. But, nonetheless, they will figure some way to spin it in his favor.

Great move by Bush, he just took another issue away from Obama.

RE: “exactly. Bush forced Obama to fulfill his senate duties. Like a boss telling the worker to shape up, or get suspended”

YES, perfect post — and wouldn’t it be nice (for voters)if the MSM were to actually report what happened today, and play the audio of the comments from this a.m. from both McCain and Obama. Nah, never gonna happen. McCain: statesmanlike and Obama: stumbling like deer in headlights.

Thank you, President Bush!

I can’t even keep up with this anymore and what it all means. I’m just going to shut up and let you freepers who have been here much longer than me sort it out. You guys have gotten me through many campaigns when I was ready to scream in frustration. But I gotta say, this is getting a little weird.

Both candidates need to agree to the plan this since one of them will have to deal with the aftermath.
Great job Bush calling them both home! lol

Just make it both!

Of course it was. It makes it look like it takes a Presidential directive to get Obama to fulfill his Senatorial duties ... Which it apparently does.

That's the way we (conservative) political junkies see it. Does that mean that this is the way that the independents, "moderates", Reagan Democrats and other potentially undecided voters see it? It's kind of like two swordsmen going at it: one is all crowd-pleasing flash, style and swagger, the other one is focused on the basics and has most of the "touches". To the informed judge, the flashy guy is losing, but to the crowd, Mr. Style is the winner. President Bush should have cited Obama's statement that he was not suspending his campaign and invited only McCain. But I guess that El Presidente Jorge was basking in his last moment of "relevance", and couldn't resist the temptation to look "bi-partisan".

Wow, I didn't think it could be done!

McCain presented Obama with a classic Hobson's Choice. He could either follow McCain back to DC or ba an asshole.

But Obama made it a twofer, he first shows that he's an asshole and now he follows the leader to DC.

What a day!

Yes, punked big-time (your words) today. Perfect!

And we have Bambi on tape from earlier today, stumbling around like the novice he is — hope McCain’s camp will make good use of all of this feeb’s comments in days/weeks to come.

Thank you John McCain and President Bush. And I’ll bet old Bill and Hill are getting a few laughs out of it, too! They’re lookin at 2012, don’tcha know.

I actually think Bush might have screwed up McCain’s plan.

What are you talking about? The President did what McCain asked him to do this afternoon in his statement. McCain called for Bush to convene an emergency summit meeting between Bush, Congressional leaders, himself and Obama to find a solution to this crisis. That didn't mess up McCain's plan -- it fulfilled it.

Thursday is close enough to Friday that it might as well be Friday. You know it will still generate immense discussion on the Sunday shows, what with being so close to Sunday and all.

I’ve already done my dumpster diving for the day.

Earlier, they were all over Obambi’s “multi-tasking” talking point, saying McCain can’t work on a bailout and debate foreign policy at the same time.

Actually, It’s Obambi who can’t multi-task. He’s boning up for the debate and can’t be bothered with doing his job as a US Senator.

“Thursday is close enough to Friday that it might as well be Friday”

Friday has a TREMENDOUS dropoff in viewership, as the Neilsen ratings clearly show. The news all day has been how the debates will manage to draw viewers. Thursday viewing has no such problem. Then there is all day Friday for people to talk. You don’t have to face it. You don’t have to agree. I don’t care. I’m just giving you the facts.

How does this help McCain with the average voter?

It doesn’t.

All they will hear and see is BOTH of them in Washington working on a solution.

The DEMS and the MSM will cover up the fact that Obama had to be dragged back by Bush.

All McCain will have left is some commercials after the fact.

Squandered opportunity IMO.

fair point about independents. try this reaction -

1. BO now has to vote for rescue plan; cannot attack Bush-McCain for bailout.

2. Bush can sit at the Cabinet table and put BO on one side of him and McCain on the other. Bush calls in the press, makes a few inane comments, and then calls on BO, who stutters and stammers, clearly at sea and above his pay grade. Bush then calls on McCain who comments with grounded maturity and expertise.

Quite a contrast for independent voters.

Didn’t Obama say last week he had a secret plan to solve the crisis? Now he can reveal the plan in private with no public panic.
