He had ways of doing this that didn’t look so much like ducking out of a debate when he’s down 8 points. I’m sorry, but this looks like a tucked tail. Not Presidential at all. If the networks and Barry are there Friday and McCain is not, he’s toast.

The proposed Paulson plan gives the treasury secretary an unprecedented amount of power for two years.
Paulson is out in 4 months, and his successor will be selected by the next president.
We don’t know who the next president is, much less who he will appoint as treasury secretary.

What if 0bama wins and he appoints George $oros as treasury secretary, who will have 20 months as the most powerful man in the world?

What needs to happen instead is congress must outlaw Credit Default Swaps retroactively, making all standing contracts null and void, and rescind Sarbanes-Oxley.
This would make the credit crisis nearly disappear overnight, and not cost the taxpayers a cent.

McCain needs to lead the charge on Capital Hill against a socialist-style bailout and a nationalization of home ownership.

Interesting move. I wonder if Barry will show up to the debate on Friday by hisself, if this happens.

Being down 8 points means only McCain has something to gain from the debates. Plus, read the article. McCain offered 10 town hall debates over the summer (even offering to pay for Obama’s travel) and Obama said flat out no.

So, obviously he was not nervous about debating. Read the article b4 you post next time, moron:P

McCain could just say, “Sorry, Barry, I want to go deal with the country’s financial problems right now. But, I’ll send Sarah to debate with you. ‘kay?”.

Hahaha. Send in the Barracuda!

If McCain campaigns on ‘Country First’ this is sticking to his slogan. I don’t think Barry can say much at all.

So what happens if McCain doesn’t show up at Ole Miss?

Will 0. Hussein just stand there reading from his teleprompter by himself?

Could backfire on McCain, but has more pitfalls for B. Hussein Obama. If Obama doesn’t respond likewise, it looks like he doesn’t care (or doesn’t know anything) about the economy and the American public. If he does what McCain did, it looks like he can’t think for himself and has to follow McCain’s lead in order to look leader-like.

Potentially a brilliant move by McCain, but this is politics after all....

This latest move by McCain can truly backfire on McCain’s chances for victory on November 4! Long-term socialism will truly occur throughout the U.S. on all of the issues, if Barack Obama is truly the next POTUS, and the Democrats and “leftist” Republicans also end up controlling the next Congress and beyond!

It never ceases to amaze me that the level of ignorance among republicans is about equal to that of democrats.

If you really believe he is “down by 8 points”, I’ve got some land in Florida you might be interested in.

The problem is those banks who lost out on these Credit Default Swaps owe the speculators trillions of dollars, many times the value of the mortgages themselves. This is what McCain was talking about when he said greedy investors on used Wall Street as a casino. These were high stakes bets on high risk loans.

Outlawing them retrospectively would annul the trillions in debt. Is it totally fair? Perhaps not, but making the taxpayers pay these debts is even less fair, and far more economically damaging.

Ah....but what if he DOES show up at the debate?

Barry can stand there and stammer while McCain fills him in on the specifics he missed by campaigning instead of doing his job as a US Senator. Then, in case anyone missed it, he can tell the American people that he saw the financial crisis coming YEARS ago and Obama and the Dems blocked reform on it.

See how easy it can all work out?
