House Democrats are bypassing renewal of the offshore oil drilling ban by including the entire Pelosi drill nothing energy bill in a draft of a Continuing Resolution. HUMAN EVENTS obtained a copy of the most recent House draft CR this morning.
The Pelosi bill, HR 6899, fails to open more than a miniscule part of the available offshore drilling areas and -- even worse -- it establishes permanent bans on development of most other domestic energy sources (natural gas, oil shale, etc.) and does nothing to develop nuclear power. It passed the House earlier this month and is now languishing in the Senate as a separate measure.
As one member of Congress said last week, its got more incentives for bicycle riding than for nuclear power. Continued
We really need to bring energy and drilling back off the back burner if we’re going to win this election.
Amen to that
This election remains McCain’s to lose. It is up to him and his campaign people -— the have more ammo to use against the rotten left, than any candidate has ever had.
It really is a “free lunch” if they will just DO IT !!!!
What happened to the Sep 30 expiration of the Congressional drilling ban? Don’t they have to pass a new bill?
Newt has a great YouTube Channel on these issues

well we better win and make some changes because palose and the rest are killing us. I keep thinking no one is that brain dead.
time to get back on the phones, email and letters to our congress critters and tell them that we need to open up drilling.
Why oh why is the Rat party so intent on seeing our economy go down the drain?
You didnt notice this same article about half way down in the Breaking News side bar.

Thank you Botox Nancy, Bush now has a reason to veto the unpopular bailout bill.
McCain could make some major political hay with this, what is he waiting for?Energy prices, especially with winter coming, are a major priority with American people.
Thank you Botox Nancy, Bush now has a reason to veto the unpopular bailout bill.
AMEN to that! SHUT IT DOWN!
IF McCain can’t oppose the Left in this situation, how will he ‘reform’ anything if elected? He now has a powerful bully pulpit and everyone’s attention.
Prices just went to 120 today ,p> Great timing Nancy
Elitist witch.
The dems are clearly biding their time hoping that a dem white house will allow them to do really stupid moves with regard to energy. What a bunch of tools!

PELOSI and her minons need to experience TAR and FEATHERS!!
I wish McCain could understand WHEN to go across the aisle. Now he says he would name Andrew Cuomo to his cabinet (SEC) who helped form this mortgage debacle when he ran HUD. Gramm-Leach deregulated financials, banks, and ins. but the Dems had already pushed subprimes under Reno, and continued to increase them when Raines, Gorelick et al ran Fannie and Freddie..
We must drill--union people and other Dems. (except those on the plantation tit) MUST realize WHERE Obama wants to take this country. He thinks we need to be more global, to depend on govt. more. He would totally finish wrecking us, besides making us vulnerable to more attacks.
I think Palin gets it, but McCain has been in the Senate so long, I do not believe he realizes the extent to which this country is being taken over by vicious leftists. He remembers Dems from earlier times who were also true Americans. Now too many are rabid socialists.
vaudine
Because she and her husband are the largest investors in T. Boone Pickens windmill plans. Her hot air alone should run my car for a week!!!!
Forgive me, but does every %$^@ing bill pass through the House nowadays? I mean, it just seems like no one stops these stupid bills from going through? What’s the point of even having a House if things just shoot through like diarhea!!
Bush has threatened to veto the bill if it gets to his desk. But if he effects a pocket veto, then the September 30 deadline would expire, would it not? The way I see it, then drilling could go forward.
Any other thoughts on this exploration of thought?
In the meantime, they’re probably loading the bill with porkies/earmarks.
That’s right. If nothing becomes law to stop oil drilling, come Sept. 30, the federal gov’t is out of the way, and our oil and gas industry can drill for known reserves and explore in any part of the continental shelf where one of the several states has not imposed a ban.
That’s the point of the article: as seems to be reflex, when the time comes to do nothing, the demonRATs always want to do something. They’re attaching to bogus ‘you can drill only where the water is deep and we don’t know there’s any oil’ ‘energy bill’ to a Continuing Resolution, that is a budget measure to keep the government open without adjusting funding levels.
They want to make it impossible for Bush to pocket veto what is effectively
an extension of the ban dressed up pretty to deceive the sheeple.
Screw the Democrats. They will wind up raising your energy costs.

Contact your Congress critters to let them that you know the best oil is located in the first 50-mile range, shoreline to 50-mile point.
U. S. House of Representatives
And un-elect all the dimocrats who will not support drilling EVERYWHERE!

Is she the reason oil shot up $25 a barrel?
There is very little difference between House democritters and Al-Qaeda as to who poses the greatest danger to our country.
“PELOSI and her minons need to experience TAR and FEATHERS!!”
Forget the feathers, just drop her in a roofers tar pot that is smoking hot!
I think it is time for McCain to start using, in his campaign ads, the phrase “Barack Obama AND the Democrats.”
Particularly on the energy issue. The under-performing congressional democrats have alienated so many Americans with their political handling of the drilling issue that tying Obama to them and them to Obama may create the political synergy we need to do some real damage politically.
Pelosi and Reid are not sympathetic figures. Their words and deeds, skillfully packaged, can be a significant detriment to the Dems in upcoming election if the republicans will get on the stick and just do it.
Maybe a 527 can do it.
“Barack Obama and the elitist democrats would rather you pay $4 and $5 a gallon for gas than take a chance that their idyllic view from their Malibu mansions might be spoiled by drilling for the oil our economy desperately needs for job and national security. Out of touch. Politics as usual.”
The words may vary but that needs to be the core of the message on energy, and it needs to be hammered again and again and again. I think this is one of the two or three main issues that can produce real traction for McCain if he will just use it and stop wasting his time trying to be Mr. Non-partisan.
The reaction by middle America to Sarah Palin shows just how ravenous the electorate is for a candidate who is authentically one of us and understands our needs and dreams and what middle America wants its government to be and do. The same sort of hunger awaits a candidate who will frame an issue in a way that Americans can identify with.
The energy issue as framed above is, I believe, a bread and butter issue that is viscerally potent with the electorate.
