Obama's Faltering Religious Outreach Revs Up

by Deal W. Hudson

9/22/08

This week the Obama campaign attempts to restart its religious outreach with a month-long tour of its religious surrogates, titled "Barack Obama: Faith, Family, and Values." The stars of the tour will be Catholic law professor Doug Kmiec, ex-Congressman Tim Roemer (also a Catholic), Methodist theologian Shaun Casey, and Evangelical author Donald Miller.

Obama's religious outreach program has been on the rocks, not yet producing its expected results. Support for Obama among both Evangelical and Catholic voters has dwindled: 57.2 percent favor McCain, versus 19.9 percent for Obama. These numbers indicate that religious voters are supporting the GOP nominee at the same level as in 2004.

That's bad news for the Obama campaign.

Restoring a relationship between the Democratic Party and the religiously active voters has been a priority for Obama and his party. TIME magazine's Amy Sullivan told a group of religion reporters on Thursday that the campaign had decided to cut the funding level of religious outreach. This is a subject of particular concern to Sullivan, who recently published The Party Faithful: How and Why Democrats Are Closing the God Gap, which we reviewed favorably here.

Sullivan's remark brought a quick denial from the head of Obama's religious outreach director, Joshua DuBois. "That is just absolutely not true. It is actually 180 degrees the other way," he said.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. Sullivan going on record to express what must have been a great disappointment to her is significant. Remember, she believed that Obama's effort to close the "God Gap" was the key to the Democrats' taking back the White House in November.

The fraud of lies of Obama, and his socialist ilk, are without limit. As the ignorant and stupid of the left keep slopping down their kool-aid, blindly supporting anything with a “D” after its name, the rampant campaign of fraud to attain the White House just keeps on moving forward....

Oh, GOODIE! He's initiating another attempt to drive more of his fence sitters solidly into our camp! This would make a great flick: Invasion of the Post-Obamites.

The One:

Faith - materialism, license, socialism.

Family - only for those who are allowed to survive the first three trimesters + a day or two.

Values - based solely on what is expedient at the moment.

Also, he sure does sound good (as long as he is plugged into the teleprompter).

What's wrong? Couldn't they get Tom Cruise or Madonna?

Any Catholic who supports or votes for this baby-killer should be immediately and irrevocably excommunicated and damned to Hell.

The Bishops and His Holiness need to come out and say that voting for Obama would be a mortal sin.

Because it certainly would be.

The stars of the tour will be Catholic law professor Doug Kmiec, ex-Congressman Tim Roemer (also a Catholic), Methodist theologian Shaun Casey, and Evangelical author Donald Miller.

If that assemblage of faux "evangelicals" and CINO Catholics who should be excommunicated are the closest thing to authentic evangelical and Catholic Christians Obama can recruit for his deceptive tour he had better hope that his best bud Satan has all of his bag of tricks along with him.

Here is a quote from a comment by a REAL evangelical Christian on this abomination, or should I say Obamanation, that is supposed to make us believe that Obama at least resembles a Christian in some aspects of his extreme liberal stands on moral issues. His comment was addressed to Miller before he prayed at the Denver convention, but is applicable to any member of that detestable group.

"If you were asked to give an invocation at a Nazi convention while millions of Jews were being gassed in ovens, would you ask God to bless the assemblage and bring about “social justice” (when Dems use this term it never includes justice for children in the womb) and an end to poverty? The cries of the Jews heard in my conscience would drown out all else. It’s time to remember first things, friends, and there is nothing more essential than the right to life. Without that, everything else is meaningless. Hopefully, Mr. Miller will remember that."

He didn't. Anyone asking God to bless the Denver assemblage of baby-killers and promoters of sexual deviancy otherwise known as Democrats is not only wasting time and breath, he is insulting and embarrassing the millions of Christians who stand on the side of God's revealed will in all of those issues.

Sadly Miller has a large following among young evangelicals who are not yet rooted and grounded in biblical Christianity, but if they are exposed to truth in their homes and home churches perhaps some will eventually see the errors of Miller's books and teachings and return to the fold of authentic Christian doctrine and belief. I just hope and pray that none of those young people are deceived by him to the point that they will actually vote for that lying spawn of Satan who the debauched Democrats nominated. (if you want to know what I really think about Obama and his party just ask)

On second thought don't ask, I wouldn't want to see my reply on a family-values oriented forum like FR.

There are many reasons for the downward trend of Obama's appeal to religious voters, but Bill Donahue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, cuts to the heart of the problem:

People of faith will judge the candidates on the basis of their voting record -- not on some grandstanding tour. The problem for Obama is his support for selective infanticide and pledges to make abortion-on-demand a right so secure that no state could ever rule against it. No "Faith Tour" can override that reality.

I don't care if you're a Catholic Christian or an evangelical protestant Christian, you just gotta love Bill Donahue. I used to enjoy his comments on O'Reilly's show, but I didn't get Fox News in my current satellite package.
