Thanks for the shout-out! Man, I can’t even figure how to post pix, let alone spinning slogans!

I was nominated by the I & I unit out of Joliet, Illinois because I had invited them to be my guests at an April presentation by MGen. Hejlik, who was the CO of MARSOC (he has a third star and now commands II MEF). However, if you read the application form, JCOC actually seeks civilians with no military ties or background, which would eliminate yours truly because I have been friends with several Marines for over 25 years and have made new friends at II MHG, 2d Radio Bn, 1sr Radio Bn, and various MARSOC companies through outgoing parcels.

MADE IN MISSISSIPPI PING!

"It's the flesh and blood. It's the sailors and Marines who really are the Iwo Jima," he said. "They are a national treasure, and the reason they are out here is they are committed to what they do. They are proud of what they do, and they want to show off what they do."

Amen! Amen! Amen!

I served for two years [1965-67] on the old USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2). On our way over to Vietnam [a ten month WESTPAC cruise], we went past Iwo Jima and anchored off the coast to hold a memorable ceremony honoring the USMC and the batallion of Marines onboard, which just happened to be BLT 1/26. We had several Iwo Jima vets as part of the BLT.Happy to hear that the USS Iwo Jima lives on in its new incarnation. Semper Fi.

WooHoo! Was the Iwo Jima put together down in Pascagoula? We used to call it Ingalls Shipyard, then it was Litton Industries. What’s it called now?

Yes indeed! Just doing our part for our nation. I have several nephews and now a grand niece who are part of NG team.

SONOBUOY PING!

Click on pic for past Navair pings.

Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

That’s it, Northrup Grumman! My youngest sister works for a company that takes boats out on sea trials.

I wasn’t expecting that image to come out so large

LOL!

Now, if I can just find a large enough printer, I could wallpaper my office.

I served on the old LPH-2 Iwo Jima during the Gulf War. I was a Combat Engineer with the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (4th MEB).

The boiler blew up on us in October 1990 and killed 10 of our shipmates.

I’ll never forget my 10 months aboard the Iwo.

The honor sort of seeps out of the ship’s weldings.

That has to be one of the most fear inspiring [to foreign countries that DO NOT like us], a ship load of MARINES, ready to arrive on their shores on a moments notice.

We can put MARINES anywhere in the world within 24 hours of being asked be the President.
