Hollywood stars attack Palin
The Herald Sun ^ | September 21, 2008 | Stefanie Balogh

SARAH Palin's life reads like an Oscar-worthy script: moose-hunting former beauty queen-cum-hockey mum who could be a heartbeat away from scoring the US presidency.

But Hollywood is having none of it.

Politics and movies have always mixed - from Joe Kennedy and silent-films siren Gloria Swanson to son John F. Kennedy and bombshell Marilyn Monroe, to the McCarthyism that swept through back lots to blackball artists over real or imagined Communist sympathies.

Hollywood is liberal and right now there is no love for the conservative Alaskan Governor who made history last month by becoming the first woman on the Republican party's US presidential ticket.

Governor Palin may have the look of a mum in one of those cheesy US sitcoms, but everyone who's anyone in Tinseltown is barracking for Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Senator Obama's list of A-list supporters includes George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am and Scarlett Johansson.

Hollywood is Senator Obama's cash cow.

There have been a slew of black-tie functions in his honour.

This week Barbra Streisand crooned at a $35,250-a-head Beverly Hills fundraiser, which netted Senator Obama $11.13 million in one night.

Stars are lining up to contribute to his campaign and use their profiles to sing his praises.

With all the celluloid frenzy, no wonder Senator Obama's wily Republican presidential opponent, John McCain, saw an opening to skewer him in an attack advertisement as the world's biggest celebrity.

Bigger, Senator McCain said, than Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. But Senator McCain now has a celebrity of his own. Ms Palin, 44 and mother of five, has re-energised the Republicans' conservative base, as well as Senator McCain, 72.

I don’t think Hollywood understands how the movie stars tend toward uselessness outside of making faces, and reading other’s thoughts outloud.

This is why I don’t go to theaters and don’t buy their DVDs. I don’t want people who spend their lives PRETENDING to be somebody else telling me about politics. They ain’t right in the head, IMHO. However, I WILL be going to the theater on 10-03-08 to see “An American Carol.”

Sounds as though there is really one area Hollywood is concerned with anymore and that is politics. I hardly go to or rent films anymore. I doubt these people make the money they used to domestically.

Yep. I have to laugh every time I hear one of them give an "opinion" of anything dealing with life. So superficial and self-absorbed.

All one has to do to confirm this.... is watch a couple episodes of "The Housewives of Orange County" or other star-related reality shows to get a good grasp of their thought processes. It's sad...really...

I must say...there was a single exchange in the "Get Smart" movie that made it completely and totally worthwhile. The two bad guys...the thug Shtarker and his evil mastermind Siegfried are going to blow up the Oscars. The following exchange takes place:

SHTARKER: "Too bad about all the dead movie stars..."

SIEGFRIED: "Yes. What will we do without their razor-sharp political advice?"

I was LOLing in the middle of a movie theater full of Liberals in Massachusetts...:)

I wonder if Barack had to give the old bag the same personal attention like Bubba did?

Wow, they must be grading on an easy curve. I would think an A list celebrity is someone everyone recognizes their name and everyone will know them in a decade will recognize there name when they pass away. I am not sure anyone on that list fits. I know Black Eyed Peas is big now, but if you have tell us who will.i.am is in your sentence he is not an A-list anything. And I don't have the slightest idea who Scarlett Johansson is.

Actually, this is good news.

These lying hypocrits can no longer hide behind their
charade of supporting “diversity” or “equality” or “privacy”
or any of the other little mantras they trot out, as they
need them.

The pretense is OVER, they have burned every bridge. And if they think they can replow the field, then they’re delusional.

Remember how Chelsea was always protected from media scrutiny? No more, folks. From now on, every kid of a politican is as fair game as Bristol Palin is.

Remember how Bubba was entitled to a “private life”, where he could frolic with 19 yr old interns? Over. Now Democrats
private lives are as private as Sarah Palin’s email account at Yahoo.

I could go on & on...

Suffice it to say, all bets are off when it comes to these
arrogant, insufferable bores.

After they trashed Clarence Thomas, they wanted to change the rules back when it came to their guys.

Well, this time, they won’t be changing the rules, folks. This time they played for keeps.

Wow! And I didn’t go see Get Smart! Me, the one with the entire series taped.

gotta see it.

Maybe that ranks right up there with Bob Hope’s “Democrats are like zombie’s...” statement?

Hollywood’s fascination with Obama is blind idolatry- more bizarre than the adulation the stars themselves receive from their most ardent fans.
He is Hollywood’s “Golden Calf”.

Remember, no way nobama can get all the votes kerry did. Even if all blacks vote (very improbable) it’s not possible.

Bradley effect!

I did not go to a theater at all yet this year, and possibly not at all in the foreseeable future.

I bet that hurts Hollyweird.
